I've never met a Kenwood product I didn't like (not so far anyway).  The latest product we've tried is the Kenwood Smoothie 2Go.

We've tried Kenwood smoothie makers before and this one is just as easy and effective to use.   So what is the difference?  Well mainly it's down to size and a few neat little features which make the smoothie easy to take out with you on picnics.

The base unit is the smallest I've seen in a smoothie maker.  It's cylindrical in shape and takes up a tiny corner of the worksurface.  The unit comes with two jugs which also double up as storage units.  So you can make a smoothie in one jug and fit the storage lid on top.  Keep it in your fridge and still be able to use the machine with the second jug.

The jugs are called travel jugs, because they have spill proof lids and a flip up flap in the lid to drink from.  True enough the lid is secure and I'd be happy to take the jug travelling with me on a picnic without concerns over spills.  I do have to say that it's not particularly easy to drink from.  This might be because we like to load out smoothies with lots of fruit and little juice, so maybe we just make our smoothies too thick!!

We did find one fantastic advantage to the two jug approach - which I suspect wasn't an intentional selling point!  Having kids of a certain age, they normally argue about who gets to make their drink first and what goes into their refreshments.  Having two jugs meant they could prepare their own fruit to make different smoothies in their own jug.  These things matter to kids in a way in which us adults find difficult to understand.

With this smoothie maker in our kitchen the kids were definately excited about their 5-a-day, and happy to do the preparation themselves.  It's incredibly easy to use.  Just chuck in the fruit and juice, screw on the whisking blades to the top of the jug and then place the jug upside down (yes, I did say upside down - it doesn't spill!), and turn the one and only knob to low or high.

The capacity of each jug is 500ml - which is only really enough for 2 glasses.  So if you want a large capacity smoothie maker - big enough to make enough smoothie for a whole family in one sitting - you'd be better off getting a larger capacity machine.  The Kenwood Concert Smoothie SB256, which we reviewed a few months back, has a 1.5litre capacity and is cheaper at under £20 at time of writing.

However, if you like the idea of making two different smoothies without washing up in between, or you fancy taking one straight out on a picnic - then this one could be for you.

The best price I've found for the Kenwood Smoothie 2Go is from John Lewis at £24.95 including shipping. As usual there are plenty of other places that appear cheaper until you add the cost of delivery! It's available on the following link :
