Combining natural shapes with technological innovation, Acers latest Aspire notebook offers itself for review.
Assigned the role of the Aspire flagship product is the Acer Aspire 5920 laptop. This model features the new design concept produced by BMW Designworks, entitled Gemstone, aimed at adding more than a touch of style to Acer's normal combination of power, usability, performance, with an aggressive price point. Lets consider first the various aspects of the Gemstone approach.
Time to climb aboard a miniaturised tank and tackle all the enemy can throw at you.
Retro never seems to go out of style mainly because it has proven to be a great source of inspiration for game developers looking for ideas on which to build their new offerings. Into this category falls Armada Tanks, a new arcade shooter, from Enkord. As with all Enkord titles, Armada Tanks can be downloaded with the user being allowed sixty minutes of game play before needing to make a decision whether to purchase or not.

The effects of identifying objects with labels can be ruined by poor penmanship. Why not use the appropriate tool designed to make good looking labels.
One of the first, if not the actual first, names that I think of with regards to the ability to create labels is that of Dymo. Over the years I have used a number of hand-held Dymo devices capable of producing clearly printed labels on a variety of different coloured adhesive labels. My initial experiences were with a unit that had more than a passing resemblance to the type of ray gun often seen in old science fiction films.
Putting your digital video content to good use is the aim of software available from Pinnacle.
Not to be confused with VideoStudio 11 Plus from Corel, Studio Plus version 11 from Pinnacle does perform a similar function as it helps you capture, edit and burn your digital media content. Three versions of Studio Plus 11 are available. These are Standard, Plus and Ultimate. This review is based on the Plus product which certainly does not stint with the amount of material supplied with this product.
With the increase in digital photos, it does seem appropriate to display them using modern technology.
It was over two years ago that I first laid eyes on a digital photo frame. This was during a period when Microsoft started pushing the concept of a digital home based around Windows Media Centre and the Xbox. The digital photo frame, at that time, seemed like a throw-away idea but gradually it has gained wider acceptance and now a number of companies, including Polaroid, are offering this type of device for the modern home environment.
Sometimes a review can be difficult to complete especially when you have become addicted to the game on which the review is based.
One element that has remained fairly constant throughout the different versions of Windows has been the Minesweeper game. Apart from some very minor make-over touches, the game has remained the same. Although this game does have a loyal band of fans, I am definitely NOT one of them. Nothing about the game has appealed to me.

It sometimes surprises me how quickly mobile phones have come to be regarded as a fashion accessory rather than a useful tool.
According to my Concise Oxford Dictionary, one of the definitions of "prism" relates to "triangular, with refracting surfaces at acute angles with each other". The reason for this excursion into the realms of lexicography is a new mobile phone from Nokia's fashion brand. This is the Nokia 7500 Prism which, if nothing else, is certainly a distinctive and eye-catching model.
Photographs, like memories, can fade or become lost over time. Protections from Polaroid is at hand.
Past generations would store their precious photographic memories in albums or, in some cases, old shoe boxes and the like. Every so often they would be brought out to bring memories flooding back to those viewing the images. Nowadays we rely more on the digital format, rather than the paper variety, of these images that are links to past events and earlier versions of ourselves.

As water covers the greater part of this worlds surface, it makes sense to use this element for various purposes such as providing power.
Combining the current drive towards energy conservation with the extreme weather conditions we have had to endure during the summer months and a product available from Gizoo.com seems entirely appropriate. That product is a clock with alarm, timer, and the ability to display the current temperature in either Centigrade or Fahrenheit. However none of these functions have anything to do with the previously mentioned appropriateness.
Taking its inspiration from a comic book series, this title features a betting scam, bone characters and a great cow race.
For the benefit of the uninitiated, of which I was a member until very recently, Bone is a classic comic book series drawn and written by Jeff Smith. Independently published, the Bone series consisted of 55 issues, which were released over a period from 1991 and 2004, and featured the adventures of bone characters and others.
Ive used a set of Yamaha speakers for many years on various computers and was keen to check out the companys latest portable speaker system.
Whether your music is stored on a notebook or MP3 player, there will always come a time when the audio output quality could become an issue. While a good set of headphones might suffice in some circumstances, this will not always be the case especially when there is a need to share with others. In such a situation, an external speaker system might be more appropriate. One possible candidate is the Yamaha NX-U10.

Putting away my paper-based maps, it was time to check out another SatNav device.
As part of its range of DigiWalker SatNav devices, Mio has released its C220 model. Although at the more budget end of its product line up, the C220 packs an impressive amount of functionality into a unit that measures 108 x 81 x 24mm (H x W x D) and weighs in at 100g. Opening the box reveals the SatNav device; a three-part connection kit for in-car use; USB lead; software CD; and various items of documentation. The C220 SatNav unit is dominated by the 3.

Sony Ericsson has taken a bold decision with its W950i model by omitting a feature many would regard as being compulsory.
Taking over the role of the flagship Walkman phone is the Sony Ericsson W950i. With this particular model Sony Ericsson has taken the decision which may come as somewhat of a surprise. Unlike all the other mobile phones I've look at, whether from Sony Ericsson or many other manufacturers, this is the first model that does NOT include any photographic features. So it is a mobile phone that does not feature a camera.
Runes, magical artefacts and hairy characters are all waiting for those who venture into an Emerald Tale.
When it comes to the development of 3-in-a-row games, Enkord has plenty of experience. Following on from titles such as Jewel of Atlantis, Jurassic Realm and Clayside, Enkord's latest 3-in-a-row puzzle offering is Emerald Tale. Set, not in as you might imagine from the title, but in a world of runes, magical artefacts, hairy creatures and an over-abundance of plant-life - hence, maybe, the emerald reference.

Keeping your personal data safe can often be neglected due to the effort required. However solutions, such as Secure Stick, are available.
How do you protect your personal digital data especially when on the move? You might rely on a system that includes encryption, passwords and backups. While there is nothing wrong with this type of approach, it does rely on the human element especially with regards to remembering those all-important passwords and the task to which each one relates.
Your personal data belongs to you so make sure others can not use this information for their own use.
Have you considered who might be sharing your computer's functionality? I do not mean sharing with members of your family or colleagues but those individuals with whom you are not acquainted. The presence of these unwanted visitors is a clear indication that your system has become infected by spyware that can include Trojans, keyloggers, adware, system monitors and cookies.
While All-in-One or multifunction devices continue to be the flavour of the month with both retailers and consumers, there is still a place for various standalone devices.
If you have the work space and an interest in photography then you might well prefer the specific functionality that is provided by a dedicated scanner. A recent example of this specific scanning functionality can be found in the Epson Perfection V200 model which provides the means to scan general documents, photos, film strips, slides and even 3D objects with a scan resolution of 4800 x 9600 with 48 bit colour.
Old and new technology is brought together in a product developed by Digital Blue.
'With its Zoomshot product, Digital Blue has combined the functionality of a pair of binoculars with a digital camera, Right from the start it should be made clear that, despite the claim on the box that this product is for those aged from 7 to adult, the kit is really only suitable for the lower age group, The binoculars are so small, with a distance of 75mm between the left and right view-finders, that I was reduced to using the kit in telescope mode - using just one

Absence makes the heart grow fonder but would it be true as I take a look at a Creative webcam after a long break.
It has been a number of years since I last had the opportunity to look at a web cam from Creative. In fact it was back in the days when the company still preferred to be known as Creative Labs. The intervening period has certainly seen some remarkable changes in the design and functionality of the device. This new addition to the Creative family is the Live! Optia.
I have been a long time user of a Dymo handheld device for printing labels on tape. The company also produces printers for creating paper-based labels.
I am an inveterate labeller. Whether it is my music collection, DVDs or even just to identify which plug connects to which device, you will usually find a label, with appropriate information, attached. As a result I am an obvious candidate for a device that can print professionally looking labels to add that touch of style which I would rarely achieve if left to my own devices.

As USB flash drives shrink in physical dimensions, they do seem to increase in storage capacity and additional features.
In an effort to differentiate their USB flash drive products from the competition manufacturers have put in varying degrees of effort into trying to make their particular products stand out from the rest of the pack. Physical dimensions and various shapes have been tried as the means of differentiating certain brands while others have opted for the approach of adding extra value in the form of bonus software such as Ceedo, U3 and encryption protection.

Add together equal measures of scientific exploration and computer interaction with a dash of curiosity, fun and creativeness could well result in a product from Digital Blue

Although many users tend only to think of Olympus as a developer and manufacturer of traditional and digital cameras, the company also has a long established reputation for producing high quality digital voice recorders.
Recently the company expanded its range of voice recorders with three new models in its DS series. These models are the DS-30, DS-40 (the subject of this review) and the DS-50. Measuring 110 x 37.5 x 16mm and weighing 73g, the DS-40 is a handy size device in more ways than one. It will fit easily into a pocket or bag, without an unsightly bulge, when not in use.
While the various MP3 type devices were designed as personal music players that has not stopped developers from trying to expand the range of audience participation.
Entitled , the provides additional audio output capabilities to your MP3 player. Although it does come with a claim, clearly mentioned on the packaging, that the product has been designed for all MP3 players, it is obvious that the iPod has had a major influence on the design concept but more on this a little later.

With music where ever you go, Sony Ericssons slider model offers plenty of functionality.
The Sony Ericsson W850i is the company's first slider model to grace its family of mobile phones. Available in either golden white or precious black, this phone measures 98 x 47 x 21mm and weighs 116g which, while not the smallest device around, is a reasonable size for the functionality it provides.

Everybody loves to win a prize especially a possible life-changing one as is offered by this next product.
Eternity is supposed to last for a very, very long time. In fact it is meant to be the infinite period that never ends. Yet despite this apparent longevity, not only do we have Eternity but Eternity II. I should make clear that this Eternity and the follow-up Eternity II are puzzle type games that have been developed by Christopher Monckton who was at one time (but not an eternity ago) an aide to Margaret Thatcher.

As my current main phone was suffering from a dodgy power connection, it was time to check out a replacement.
Generally I do not believe in co-incidence but sometimes circumstances force me to reconsider my position. Take, for instance, the combination of two recent events. On the very day that I had decided to review a new BT phone, who should turn up but a team of BT engineers. Their assigned task was to replace the telegraph pole situated outside my home. To me the original pole look fine but I was not consulted about the matter.

While hardly operatic, Sony Ericsson chose the Kings Cross Scala as the venue for its latest product announcements.
Sony Ericsson W890 The guys from Sony Ericsson were back in town earlier this week with news of some new offerings made up of mobile phones; a mobile Broadband modem; and an entertainment download service. Let's take a look first at the new phones coming our way. All these new models will not be available in the UK until early next year, so really this is just to whet our appetites for the post-Christmas period.
