As with most communities, fashion and facilities can change and affect the needs of the population.  In the case of Animalville, the Jet Dogs Studio's environment, housing the Walker family and other types of animals, the residents began to struggle with their matted fur which affected their appearance.  Never the ones to miss out on an opportunity, Panther and Squirrel Walker decided that this feeling of dissatisfaction by the residents could be alleviated by the establishment of a Beauty Salon and so Shopping Clutter 23 - Beauty Salon was created.

In its usual manner, this title is spread over 20 levels of challenging Hidden Object collections and mini game puzzle solving.  Each level, which needed to be tackled in sequence, consisted of 7 Clutter puzzles and a relief break of a mini game puzzle.  As with the levels, these elements need to be tackled in order to achieve the necessary progress required for setting up the Beauty Salon.

Each Clutter challenge will be based on the task of clearing a set number of items from the presented collection of objects.  The collection of object will be made up of a wide range of items with some having  a link to the Beauty Salon theme but others having no connection.  Mixed in with the collection of different objects will be numerous stars which can be collected to charge the program's Hint feature.  A full charge of this facility will require ten stars.

Depending upon the level, the items could be scattered around the screen.  Sometimes they could be shown in one or two piles or maybe arranged in a particular shape such as a cross, circle or rectangle.  In some cases floating bubbles, each holding an item, could float around the screen.

The program supports a number of rules which will govern the search procedure  Sometimes you might be asked to target items of a specific type such as edible, inedible, chairs, flowers, cocktails, desserts, clothing and as silhouette formats.  The items might be cut in halves or quarters.  At times you could be asked to find individual items or look for pairs, groups of 3, items of the same colour, sizes or have the ability to move.

Once the seven stage Clutter clean up operation has been completed then a mini game puzzle will need to be tackled.  Reassembling a scene will be a regular task.  You might need to swap adjacent segments, rotate segments, swap rows and columns or slide segments into spaces or swap elements diagonally.

As each level is completed, you will be provided with the equipment necessary for creating and successfully running the Beauty Salon.  Linking the various stages of this game are cut-scenes to show the Salon.  These will be accompanied by printed text.
