Now up to version 17 of its particular series, the latest edition of Casual Arts Vacation Adventure - Park Ranger continues to follow the established pattern of game play that was featured in the earlier episodes of a Park Ranger's life style.  You can play this game with your in-game avatar represented by a male or female Ranger headshot using one of the three available difficulty levels.  You can make this difficulty level choice from options entitled Casual, Challenge or Extreme.  In m usual fashion I opted for the Casual level for the purpose of this review.

The game combines a mixture of Hidden Object game play and puzzle solving with the Hidden Object aspect taking on the major role as tasks will be presented in a string of locations that you need to travel along in sequence.  Depicted as appropriate scenes that form part of the Pinecreek Hills area that forms the patch under your watchful gaze and guidance.  While you can return to a previous scene, you do need to complete the current location before progress can be made to the next location. 

Each Hidden Object scene will feature two sections indicated by an outbreak of sparkles that can be zoomed into for a closer look.  Also presence in the scene will be a camera icon which can be used to capture an image of the scene that becomes part of your personal diary.  There will also be a number of various items of trash such as bottles, cans , waste paper or other throwaway objects which you need to collect as part of your normal duty as you find a list of required items. 

While doing your duty in this respect, you will be presented with a list of items, displayed six at a time, in text format.  Items in this list coloured blue will require a task to be performed while those coloured red will be concealed in some manner.  As well as the required list of items, you will also need to be on the lookout for items of wildlife displayed in silhouette format.  These can be added to your list of required items.  Hint and Mega Hint facilities are provided to assist you when searching for items from the required list.

Interspersed between the numerous Hidden Object search scenes will be a randomly selected puzzle type game.  The game makes this selection from a variety of puzzles from categories such as Jigsaw, Rotate section to create scene, Word Square, Concentration, Spot the Difference, Slide puzzle, Swap sections and Name types of wildlife.

Having fully check out the various locations and tasks related in Pinecreek Hills area, you gain access to several bonus items that include more locations, extra puzzles and wallpaper images.  This latest version of Park Ranger can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £14.63.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 574MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
