As our reliance on portable electronic devices grows, so does the need for a means of storing such items when on our travels.  Offering to provide carrying option for various items is the Saga 15-inch laptop backpack from the STM family.  This nag has been designed to be carried on the back or in the fashion of an attaché case.

Available in a choice of colours, such as dark navy, granite grey, royal purple or the black of my review sample, the Saga backpack features both wavy shoulder straps and a padded light tan brown handle grip that does look a little out of place with regards to the black of the rest of the unit.  The padded shoulder straps have a mesh covering on the insides.  The same type of mesh covering is also used over the rear of the backpack and used to create pockets on either side of the bag.  These pockets are meant for storing items that require quick access such as water bottles and the like.

The greater majority of this backpack’s storage area is concealed behind zips.  The three zips that form part of this product are each tagged with a rubberised pull cord and grip for easy opening and closing.  The zip feature has been designed to make use of what is referred to as reverse coil.   This feature does not show the teeth during the zipping process as it usually the case and is claimed to improve the strength of the zip closure for greater security.

The zippers are further strengthened by having the slider units being positioned on the flatter side and featuring a fabric covering over the teeth.  This latter enhancement helps to keep out dirt and moisture that could have an adverse effect on the smooth running of the zipping process and stop it invading and affecting the content of the bag.

A single zip, running across the top of the Saga backpack gives access to a slip-in pocket that can hold items with dimensions of up to 14 x 16 cm.  Initially located on the left side of this backpack are two zips which can be used to open and close access to the unit’s main storage area working either singularly or in combination.  As well as the main storage area for your laptop, there are slip-in pockets for devices of various sizes plus a zip protected mesh pocket allowing for the organisation arrangement of equipment to suit the needs of the user.

Designed in Australia, the Saga backpack is constructed from environmentally friendly material.  This material is free of perfluorooctanoic acid and DWR C6.  It is coated with two layers of polyurethane as an additional water repellent protection for when the bag is being used in wet climate conditions.  This Saga backpack makes use of STM’s protective suspended tech cell technology.  This feature ensures items, such as the laptop, are kept away from impact zones including the bottom of the bag to improve their protection from possible damage.

With adjustable shoulder straps and supplied with a lifetime warranty, for the bag, the Saga backpack product, as reviewed, is listed on Amazon.co.uk priced at £54.88.
