Self Warming Body Wrap

Like a lot of people of my age I have problems with my back, I often find that laying down helps, even the old fashioned hot water bottle gives some assistance. So anything that can keep me upright and reduce the discomfort gets my vote. This item is a large strap that fits round the waist and heats up whilst you are wearing it.

The ThermoDR Body Wrap is one metre in length and 15cm wide. This is stated as ‘one size fits all’ well if your waist is 36inches of less then yes. However there is another piece of the material that is 50cm long and with the aid of the Velcro straps can I am told fit all waists up to 52 inches. My 42 inch waist was easily catered for and with some trepidation I linked the original strap and the 50cm extension, the instructions state do not fit to tightly so ideal not to put the Velcro under pressure.

You have to dampen the central area so a well dampened flannel was used on the 25cm wide area that is red with black dots. The instructions say within eight to twenty minutes you should feel heat and I did.

Not a lot of heat like a preheated heat pack but some warmth after around ten minutes. I did the initial tests wearing a dressing gown as I did not want wet clothes. As the dressing gown did not seem wet I then ventured to trying it with my normal clothes and again some heat so it is possible to move around while wearing it.

Now sure that I was not going to get burnt after a few minutes the final test was to wear it while I went for a walk as it is damp out I had enough clothes and even a Macintosh on. Again some heat the belt stayed in place and no one was aware of my extra ‘belt’

Now you probably want to know how this works – I have no idea – I did not ask the supplier as no doubt the ‘I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you’ statement would be true.

The area that the ‘magic’ occurs in is the red 25cm area with the black dots so that area should go on the part of the lower back be it central or to one side that you want to treat with heat.

When I remove the belt the heat soon subsides, on the belt there are 12cm wide vented areas which I assume moves the heat produced away.

My back was a little damp after use but it soon felt dry again.

The Self Warming Body Wrap is available from the link below for £24.99.
