The lure and appeal of Avalon continues to attract the attention of the Good and Evil.  Fortunately as you fall into the Good category. you can come to the rescue of this peaceful and pleasant land when evil forces attempt to disrupt its ambience as forest grow silent, rivers darken and the light fades within Avalon.  This is the situation facing you as the Anawiki title of Avalon Jewels 3 Collector's Edition takes centre stage.

This game, based on the Match 3 genre, consists of 250 levels of Match 3 action with more than a sprinkling of mini puzzle solving to hinder or encourage your progress through an adventure which can be played in either puzzle move limited or relaxed mode.  The game allows for the adjustment of volume levels for background music and sound effects plus offering a choice of English, Spanish, German or French language for instructions and dialogue.

As with the previous titles in this series, each level of Match 3 action will be based around a centrally positioned grid housing a variety of different gems and other elements filling its cells.  The grid is sandwiched between available power-ups, which need to be earned through progress, on the right and three diverting bonus games on the left.  You are also provided with details of the challenge required to complete the current level.

Set out in a winding trail of stop-over points, the selection of Match 3 levels must be tackled in turn.  As usual with Match 3 offerings, clearances can be achieved by swapping two adjacent gems so that groups of three or more similar tiles are created.  The group then disappears with the space being filled by other tiles falling downwards.  Along with the standard assortment of gems, grids can contain elements such as shields, blocks, bookcases, boulders, banners and the like.  The creation of groups will more than three tiles will bring the reward of rockets and bombs that can clear a row , column or gems of a specific colour when needed.

Introduced in this version of the Avalon series is the presence of Menhir stones and a collecting Druidess.  These two elements will make their appearance in certain levels.  When they do appear, they are included as part of the set challenge.  Working in pairs, you need to create a linked pathway between them so that the Druidess travels towards and collects the Menhir stone.

Intersperses between the steady diets of Match 3 levels and appearing on a random basis will be various mini game puzzles.  Appearing among this interruption will be a task to guide a ball around a maze that is too large to fit on a single screen.  As part of the ball's journey you will need to collect certain items.  Other puzzle types include Spot the Difference between two side-by-side images, swapping segments to create a scene or selecting the correct ingredients to create a potion using a mastermind type of game play.
