Recently I reviewed the Murena One smartphone.  This review is accessible at Review : Murena One /e/OS (gadgetspeak.com).  While I was reasonably happy with most aspects of the smartphone with its additional layer of privacy protection, I did encountered a particularly annoying problem regarding the delivery of email messages to the phone.  While I could easily access the email account assigned to me as part of the unit's initial set-up of the phone, I was unable to access my email account when using my chosen email client of Outlook.

Fortunately, following the combined efforts of Murena One technical support and the company's PR agency, I was  supplied with a solution to alleviate the email problem that I encountered.  It seems the Outlook app for Android features a tracker entitled Mobile Engagement.  This element has the task of tracking activity and is used in some apps to collect information for whatever purpose we are not meant to ask.  To remove the problem I faced the solution would be to whitelist the offending article or tracker for the Outlook app or enable tracking for the whole Outlook app.

The actual steps required for this solution, as supplied to me by Murena technical is as follows:-

Access Settings on the Murena One handset.

Select Advanced Privacy

Select Manage Apps Tracker

Select Outlook or Outlook Lite as necessary

Then either disable the slider for Mobile Engagement or the slider for "Block Trackers"

Using this method I was then able to gain access to my main email account using either the Outlook or Outlook Lite app which are both available from the Murena One App Lounge.

This fix certainly makes the Murena One a more usable smartphone in my opinion.  It would deserve on extra star over my previous rating but not really any more as I feel this problem could or should have been foreseen during initial development work especially when you consider the high profile of the Outlook app.
