Honor Magic V2 very Smart Phone

It looks like any standard 15x7cm phone both in size and weight however it unfolds to become almost 15x14cm to give a much larger surface viewing area. So when folded the display is the front and the units three cameras are the back. When unfolded the right of the back are the cameras the left of the back is blank while what was the inside becomes the double sized front.

At the widest bit the Honor Magic V2 is only just over .7cm wide, this increases to 1.2cm at the top left where the three cameras are in a vertical line, the total weight is 240 grams.

This is the first foldable phone I have seen that does not seem to be thicker at the fold and therefore when your finger moves over it there is no disturbance. When viewing in the unfolded state you have a wider view and still have 20:9 aspect ratio. Folded or unfolded the refresh rate is still up to 120Hz. The exact resolution when looking unfolded is 2344x2156 pixels, folded is 2376x1060 pixels.

The units processor is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Octa Core Processor running at up to 3.19GHz. It has 16GB + 512GB.

The operating system is Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2.

While this is an amazing folded Smart Phone the cameras are as always one of the most important parts the 50MP wide view camera is f/1.9. The 50MP Ultra wide camera is f/2.0 and the 20MP telephoto offering is f/2.4 all of which give up to 8192x6144 pixels. The video resolution is 3840x2160 pixels which is 4K. At the 40x Digital Zoom will need a very steady hand. Also for people like me who try to video from quite close the .5 mode is much better than most. The front camera is 16MP wide angle f/2.2 which is 3840x2160 pixels.

The battery is 5000 mAh and supports up to 66W super charge. It has two Nano SIM ports.

For those who prefer earbuds it supports both Wi-Fi and USB 'C' connections.

In use on the move folded is easier to hold but once sitting the balance is easy to use unfolded.

I always try to let you know about any problems but here I failed to find any, while I am still in a tiny minority who regularly turn my phone off the boot up time of only 14 seconds might encourage a few more to do so.

The only thing stopping this getting the very rarely awarded 5x5 award is the price but even that is a lot less than most comparable Smart Phones.

The Honor Magic V2 is available from Honor at £1449 including £200 voucher discount which is available at www.hihonor.com
