Announced as the world's first infrared night vision Android 10.0 rugged smartphone, the S96 Pro is a new offering from DOOGEE Hen tong Technology Co. Ltd.  Available in a choice of Fire Orange, Army Green and Mineral Black, the S96 Pro has dimensions of 167 x 81.4 x 15.5 mm (H x W x D) and a weight of 310g (including the battery) which presumably reflects its rugged appearance.

As mentioned a little earlier, this is a rugged device with its body providing plenty of insulation from water and dust with an IP rating of IP68 and IP69K, along with a capability to be drop-proof and scratch-resistance.  According to the information I have been supplied, this handset has waterproof stoppers to help secure the Type C port, earphone jack and SIM card slot.  The S96 Pro is capable of capturing underwater images at a depth of 5 metres and it can survive being immersed in 1.5 metres underwater for 30 minutes.  With a body constructed of TPU and aluminium alloy reinforced polycarbonate materials, the S96 Pro can withstand a drop from a height of 1.8m onto a concrete surface.  Protecting the screen from accidental scratches is a covering of Corning® Gorilla® Glass.

Featuring a 6.22-inch Water drop screen, delivering a resolution a resolution of 720 x 1520 with 270 PPI and wide colour gamut, viewing considerations should be more than satisfactory.  With regards to photographic aspects, DOOGEE has opted to go with the Samsung® 48MP Quad camera setup, consisting of 48MP + 20MP + 8MP + 2MP lenses on the rear and paired with a front-mounted Samsung® 16MP unit.  There is also a Sony® 20M Night Vision camera and Sony® IMX350 Sensor chip.  This arrangement should mean you will be able to capture images and videos at any time night and day or near and far.  The Elfie camera is claimed to be able to focus on the subject matter even in a crowded scene.

Helping to provide a secure access facilities, the S96 Pro offers the user a choice of methods.  You can either opt for fingerprint access or use the handset's Face Unlock feature.  The recognition sensor, built into the unit, offers Omni-directional recognition for up to ten fingers with a claimed response speed of 0.19 seconds.

The S96 Pro is built around a Mediate Helios G90 Octal-core processor chipset.  This chipset is made up of 2 x Cortex A76 2.0GHz + 6 x Cortex A55 2.0GHz.  The chipset is claimed to deliver an 8% upgrade on gaming performance and 16% upgrade on CPU performance when compared to the previous Helios G85 offering.  The S96 pro is supplied, as standard, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Samsung UPS storage.  The phone supports up to 256GB of expandable storage.

Powering the S96 Pro is a generous 6350mAh battery which has a claimed two days of use from a single charge.  The phone uses 24W fast charging and 10W wireless charging facility.

Along with the standard Android 10 operating system, the S96 Pro comes with its own app toolbox aimed at those with an interest construction, hiking and other types of outdoor activities.  The handset's navigation system combines GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Beidon for the optimum results in a variety of locations.  There is also support for NFC and Google Pay.

The S96 Pro will be available from AliExpress for £237 with Amazon expected to have the product on sale from December.
