Rebuilding Roman Locations

As you might suppose from its title, Catjong features some elements regarding the feline family and aspects of Mah-jong style of game play. While both themes are featured in the game, they may not appear in the manner you might expect. The feline elements comes in the form of a rather large domestic cat, portrayed in cartoon style appearance, whose task is to link together the various sections of the game. The Mah-jong connection can be seen as you need to remove decorated tiles from a layout by creating groups of similar embellished tiles.
Catjong spreads in action over 200 levels of tile clearing work in order to build up the required resources to rebuild ancient Roman locations. When working through the levels of the game it quickly became obvious that the game's developer is not too keen of providing the player with an over indulgence of helpful instructions. Often I found that I needed to try selecting various items and methods of approach to achieve the results I was looking for to advanced further. Often it was more a case of learning by doing rather reading help instructions.
Basically the game requires you to earn the necessary resources you will need to select similar tiles from the supplied layout. Chosen tiles are then stored temporally in a panel with enough spaces to accommodate 7 tiles. Once you have stored three similar tiles in the panel then these will be swapped for building resources and your collection of resource material will be increased.
Once the layout has been completed you will be able to use these resources in the rebuilding aspect of the title. Specific resources will need to be spend to carry out the building work of different Roman features. The actual construction work will be carried out automatically before you are allowed to return to the layout area.
While the game might not be too over keen to provide instructions, it does provide some power-ups to assist you in your task. However you will need to earn these power-ups. Initially the game will start with four power-ups which are locked. As you progress through the game, the power-ups will become unlocked but without any instructions regarding their purpose and function. More try-it-and-see sessions will be required to see how to best use the power-ups.
From time-to-time, the tile clearing action will be replaced by a mini game interlude. This interlude could feature a number of stages as you guess whether the next card will be higher or lower than the card shown. A reward could be available but you could loose more than you win.
You can download Catjong from Gamehouse.com it is priced at $9.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.49. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 4096MB of RAM and 184MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
