The 'epour' from Melitta has a total footprint of 32x37x16cm.

Cold water is placed into the rear of the machine at the top by removing the lid, this can store up to 1litre of water. It comes with a 70cm long hard wired mains lead. There are just three buttons on the area below the coffee pot at the front, Pre-Brew, Brew and Control.

The front of the machine at the top has the area that you place a filter in and then add coffee to your taste. Below this is the coffee pot both fit snugly with a click.

When the water has been heated it is trickled onto the coffee in the filter by a revolving arm so the coffee is evenly wetted and then it is passed through the filter into the coffee pot.

A simple design so therefore little can go wrong and once the coffee has dripped through the filter it is easy to remove and you have nothing much else to clean apart from the coffee pot itself. This feature is very important if it is your job to do the cleaning and should you have any input into purchase I am sure it’s top of your check list in importance.

A few words about the three controls, the Pre-Brew allows only enough water to damp the coffee and thus you can control exactly the taste and strength you want. The machine has a memory and next time will make it exactly the same way. Brew heats the water and then does exactly that and brews the coffee. Once brewed the heat plate will continue to keep the coffee warm for up to 40 minutes. The water is heater to between 92 and 96 degrees Celcius.

The control button controls how the water is dripped onto the coffee in the filter and which direction the delivery tube turns.

There is twelve language operating instruction booklet with a clear diagram at the front to describe everything.

It comes with a pack of ten filters from Melitta so the only extra thing you require is the coffee.

My normal supine state was changed somewhat during my review period and my alertness improved, it shows the difference between real coffee and instant, even best quality the latter may take only the time it takes a kettle to boil but the former keeps you alert for longer.

Once you have found a filter coffee that works for you then you only need to work out the exact combination of coffee to water and your day suddenly becomes much more enjoyable.
