This works in a slightly different way in that all the water in the talk is turned into coffee so working out the amount of ground coffee to inset in the top is important as otherwise the coffee you get with not be to your taste. The water tank is marked in medium 10 cups or small 15 cups, I tend to drink my coffee in half pint mugs and 6 of the medium cups is three mugs, their assessment is 6 grams of ground coffee to a cup, I found that 10 grams for my mug was right for me.
Once the coffee is perked the machine will turn off and the coffee sits in a heavily insulated jug, I found that up three hours later the temperature was still drinkable black. On days when I manage to force myself to wait till around noon for my third mug of coffee placing the filled mug in the microwave for around 30 seconds brings it back to piping hot.
The top of the machine has Melitta's AromaSelector that allows you to select the strength of coffee you require with just one touch - whether it be a strong pick-me-up in the morning or a milder, feel good coffee later on.
The controls of the machine are easy to use, on first use set the clock on the display after that you can set a timer so if you normally rise at 7.20AM set the number of hours/minutes from the actual time to 7.20AM and not only will you have coffee ready the next day and every day after that until you set a different time so weekends can be later to suit your routine providing you reset the timer on Friday.
The on/off button allows you to make coffee at any time and for my three mugs from putting water in the tank and ground coffee in its container on the other side of the top to turning off is seven minutes and twenty seconds. At that time the coffee is fully perked.
The fully insulated jug is sealed so you can move it away from the machine without drips from the machine or indeed the jug getting cold quicker. The machine comes with a two year guarantee.
