Philips Masticating Juicer HR1889

Not an ordinary juicer that extracts a good amount of content from soft fruit but a masticating juicer that does much more with almost anything that has juice, so for those of you who want juice from Celery or Carrots or even things like onions this is the tool to do it.

It is 40cm tall, 37cm from back to front and 14cm from side to side, unlike most juicers that would require you to do most of the work like quartering an Apple before inserting this has a large capacity seven centimetre wide tube and once inserted any juice is soon extracted and then the remains – and in the case of soft fruit this is not much – is then masticated to pulp.

However for things that you might not normally juice then there is more left and this leftover amount can then be frozen and used in soups and stocks to extract that last little bit of goodness for the fibre it contains.

As you might expect there is an App to install on your iOS or Android phone.

There is a twenty eight page 21cm square receipt book and while it has basic ideas for Nutrition Boosts, Liquid Snacks, Fitness Wonders, Green Boosters and Purple Power Punch. These are just ideas and the limit is your own imagination.

Unlike most basic juicers which are exactly that this is a Masticating Juicer and that will extract far more and the amount of preparation to extract you do is far less simply as you can use far larger pieces of whatever you are trying to extract juice from.

There are two large 60cm square instruction sheets each having five languages, these also show many illustrations and also show how to disassemble the masticator for cleaning.

The mains lead is just over a metre long so plenty of space from the socket.

Green Apple juice once masticated remains green as the skins are green and unlike less powerful juicers this works skins included.

As this is a powerful machine it is noisy in use and could be a great way to get others out of bed.

This has a 150watt motor that is stated to remove 80% of the nutrients from whatever you are masticating; it is black with silver trims.

While I was researching prices I find they also do a 200watt version in silver that extracts up to 90%.

At the time of publication the Philips Masticating Juicer is available from Amazon for £239.99 including free delivery.

It’s also available direct from Philips for £240.
