I have long been a fan of the various PURE DAB radio products. As a result I was keen to check out one of the new models produced by the company. I opted to take a look at the company's Classic H6 model which was being released with a price ticket of £149.
Rectangular in shape this particular product is available in a choice of Coffee Brown Walnut (my review sample) and Cotton White Oak. The unit has dimensions of 270 x 105 x 160 mm (L x W x D) and consists of the actual radio unit which is encased within a wooden styled protective shell. The PURE Classic H6 can handle output delivered from a variety of sources such as the central DAB+ radio facility, FM, Bluetooth, Auxiliary input and USB stick input depending upon the choice of the user.
Providing the power to deliver these various inputs is a power socket located on the rear of the unit. Supplied in the package is a 196 mm power lead which features an adapter plug that can easily be switched to offering 2-pin and 3-pin connections. Also available on the rear of the Classic H6 is an extendable aerial plus specific input sockets for both Auxiliary and USB delivery sources.
With its delivered output being measured at 30 Watts, the Classic H6 front panel is decorated with various control inputs and a visual feedback screen for the benefit of the listener. A centrally mounted 5 x 4 mm display will deliver station, input mode and the current time plus other information that the listener has requested. This screen is sandwiched between a pair of large control button wheels for adjusting volume on the left with menu and navigation options on the right.
Arranged alongside the left control button wheel are six Quick Access buttons that can be linked to specific favourite radio stations. A similar arrangement of six buttons sits next to the right large button wheel where they can provide access to features that include Source, Standby, Open, Bluetooth, Timer and Alarm set-up options. Button controls can be linked to a designated function with a long press while a quick press will activate the feature.
While the basic controls for the Classic H6 are well set-out and easily accessible from the front of the unit, you are not limited to just this method of control. Included in the package is a remote control. This feature provides a range of features to select the appropriate input source. It can also be used to set options for a timer and alarm features plus select the unit as an output device for your collection of Bluetooth audio facilities, select specific tracks and audio EQ plus quickly apply a Mute command. The PURE Classic H6 product can provide you with a choice of DAB+ and FM radio station access plus act as a conduit for various other audio sources that you may have available. It can also act as an alarm device and be used as a timer function when the need arises. Available from various retailers, the PURE Classic H6 is priced at £149.
