The Sleeping Titans

Opening an ancient book sends Amanda and Charlie on their next adventure.

Once again the inquisitive pair of Amanda and her cousin, Charlie, set out to dig beneath the surface of a Match 3 adventure to discover the story of the Islands of the Sleeping Titans episode related in version 12 of the series from e-Funsoft.  This time their adventure begins after discovering an ancient book featuring a distinctive symbol in a dusty library.  Without much ado the pair travel by small boat to reach the island of Florage where they meet up with a small boy called Eli.

It isn't long before changes start to occur in this strange and wonderful land as Amanda and Charlie hear about the story of the Sleeping Titans who are about to be awaken.  The cause of this awakening is due to the increase in the activities of industrial forces destroying the natural landscape.  In order to restore the balance and safeguard the island's resources, you will need to assist Amanda, Charlie and their new friend, Eli, by completing 70 Match 3 levels that are split between five chapters which need to be worked through in sequence.

Using its standard layout arrangement, e-Funsoft Match 3 grids are positioned centrally on the screen and are sandwiched between power-ups on the left and the grid's target challenge on the right.  The challenge will show the number and type of tiles that will need to be removed to complete the level.

Tiles are usually removed by swapping two adjacent tiles so that a group of three or more tiles of the same type are created.  The group then disappears and is replaced by other tiles falling downwards.  If the group created has more than four files you will be awarded a bomb which can be used solo or in conjunction with other power-ups to clear away tiles.

There is one type of tile which can not form part of on a group to be removed in this way.  This tile is referred to as a Crystal.  It can only be removed by creating a pathway beneath it so that the Crystal falls downwards to the base of the grid from where it can be collected..  If the Crystal tile appears in the grid then it will also appear as part of the grid's challenge.

The completion of the grid's challenge brings the reward of some stars.  These stars can be used to purchase the four upgrades associated with each chapter.  As with the chapters, the instigation of the upgrades need to be carried out in sequence.  The actual upgrade will be applied automatically and will affect the background scene.

Following each upgrade, the game's story line will be advanced as a static cut-scene will occur.  These scenes will feature Amanda, Charlie and Eli plus the appearance of one of the Titans who grows out of the landscape.  Any dialogue involved in these cut-scenes will be limited to text format that needs to be advanced with mouse clicks.  While the appearance of the growing Titans is certainly eye-catching, I felt the actual cut-scenes tended to be boring as out heroes fought against the destruction attempt of Big Business to take the island's resources for use in their manufacturing processes.
