Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G

As with most recent SmartPhones it is all about the cameras. Here one of its four cameras is an amazing 108MP. However with 5G those who download a lot to their phone are also able to do this with minimal delay. So what has this latest offering got to make you choose it apart from of course the extremely powerful camera that it has?

It is 16x7.5x1cm the figure at the top left of the back where the cameras are, it weighs 207 grams.

It comes with Android 11 and MIUI 13 which sits on top of the Android operating system and while I was testing it loaded the Android security update for July ’22.

It comes with 128GB of storage and around 32 GB is used. There is 8GB of RAM. It has an Octa Core Media Tek Dimensity 920 Processor.

The display is 6.67 inches and has a 120Hz refresh rate to the 2400x1800 display, 395PPI. The battery is 4500mAH. It is dual Nano SIM offering.

Mine was Matt Black (Graphite Grey) but there are also two other colours of blue and green.

The main rear camera is 108MP with a 16MP secondary offering others are 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro. The selfie front camera is 16MP. Perhaps more useful is the knowledge that the ultra-wide offering allows you to capture at .6 meaning you can capture close to 50% more width that at zero zoom this is great when you are in a room unable to go further back to capture a wide image, this also applies to video.

I was more than happy with every image and video I shot however the display when shooting images was less than brilliant but it did not affect what it shot. This feature did however save handsomely in battery life; it also has an excellent night mode.

In the box is a clear cover which helps if you put it face down as the large camera area makes it rocky. Also supplied is a very impressive 120w charger which gives a very quick recharge in as little as 15 minutes.

In fact when you see the price at the end this makes the camera a real bargain buy as it’s not a high price nor even a mid price offering.

I was trying to decide if this should be a very rarely awarded 5x5 award or just highly commended as far as my memory goes I was unaware of a phone ever getting either. I knew however of a bug which must have been around for a while as there is a You Tube workaround designed for Redmi 10 it’s very detailed and takes a long time and indeed for the first phone I was sent I was unable to make it work.

This phone does not have that problem and indeed if you buy it new it would not affect you anyway but I feel I must warn you as I spent two days trying to implement the workaround before giving up.

It asks you to input the user name and password for the previous user before you are able to complete the setup so it makes the phone unusable as you would not know these details.

I repeat however I was able to do a factory reset and reinstall on this phone without problem, exactly like any other SmartPhone review.

At the time of publication the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is available from Amazon for £369 including delivery.

It is also available direct from Redmi for £329 and you get free earbuds as well.
