Now up to version 4 of the series, Iki Games offering of "Spooky Dwellers" continues with the drive to remove a multiple growth of pumpkins and various other elements from a grid-based playing area. This title, like the others in the series, is a Match 3 type of game as you move around tiles to achieve the desired results.
To assist you when dealing with the issues that will arrive as you carry on with the clearing process, Iki Games provides you with the ability to make adjustments to the playing environment. These adjustments can affect screen size and audio issues plus the selection an appropriate mouse pointer. I decided to stick with the Casper Ghost shape I used when playing the previous version in the series. The game, which is spread over 90 levels, can be played in a choice of Relaxed mode or with either a Time or Moves restricted limit when tackling the rectangular areas of Match 3 grids with their mixture tiles.
The game features the usual assortment of Match 3 type features as you clear a succession of grids from unwanted items by the creation of groups, the use of power-ups and the application of a light beam feature to remove the Spooky Dweller creatures which tend to make their home on the edge of the current grid. To assist you with the light beam task, you will be given access to a Talisman of Light which can direct a beam of light in a particular direction. By using this Talisman of Light feature in conjunction with Rotating Light structures you can adjust the direction the light beam will take to attack a specific Spooky Dweller.
Adding an addition element of difficulty to the clearance of grids, especially with regards to the appearance of pumpkins that tend to gather around the edges of the grid, various items will overlay areas of tiles. These coverings could consist of elements such as chains, fog, holy water, different coloured grass, hatted mischief, a conveyor belt and big spooky dwellers. Helping deal with such elements will be the appearance of power-ups that can remove a row or column of tiles, an adjacent tile or a selection of randomly selected ten tiles.
Knowing a change is as good as a rest, Iki Games has built a number of mini game puzzles into the mixture of grid clearances. Appearing randomly could be a Hidden Object scene, completing a jigsaw, finding matching pairs or putting together the top and bottom halves of an item from a selection. Once you have completed the mini game puzzle, you will be returned to grid clearance action.
Linking together the various section of the game will be a series of cut-scenes. These are rather static in appearance as they progress the story of the millionaire Maximilian Goldenhirst who spent his life time building up his wealth to provide you with some playing pleasure.
Having completed the game's various levels, you will then gain access to the title's Collection's Edition bonus items. Here you will find extra levels. more mini game puzzles, wallpapers and stories. This tile can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £14.95. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 3072MN of RAM and 439MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
