Philips S9000 Prestige

This is not a cheap electric razor in fact you could probably buy several cheap electric razors for the cost of this one. This razor removes a week’s stubble quickly and without any discomfort either at the time or later. It has three round heads for the shaving part these pop off to attach the hair trimming head and there is yet another head for another purpose.

The unit with shaving head is close to square at the end with the three heads at 5cm and it is 16cm long.

It comes with a wireless charging plate 18x11cm and the razor sits on its back on the plate there is a slight indentation at one end that takes the shaving head. It comes with a two pin plug – the only one that should be found in a bathroom – that has a USB socket on one side. The plate has a hard wired USB lead of 1.2 metres long. Charging this way gets you to 50% charged in 30 minutes. If you insert the lead into a normal USB plug front – trickle charge – then you get to 33% in one hour.

This is either a wet or dry shaver.

I tend to use both wet and dry shaves as I find only a wet shave clears the softer hairs under the jaw.

This unit means you can stop conventional wet shaving as the soft hairs under the jaw are able to be removed when covered with shaving gel.

With most shavers there is a hair trimmer on the back of the razor here it’s a separate attachment, pull the three head unit off and push the trimmer onto the unit.

I can find no explanation of what the soft headed brush that also fits on the razor in pull push motion either in the now popular booklet of illustrations or on the website, so I tried it as a shaving brush to spread the shaving gel easily in the beard I have no idea if this was right but it works.

Both the three headed shaver and this mysterious soft brush can be cleaned under a running tap.

When you lift the razor it tells you instantly the number minutes shaving left counting down from one hundred when fully charged it also tells you when it needs washing.

This is by no means cheap but the quality nanotech head blades give a smooth even finish without any soreness.

I tried not shaving for a week – normally when I do this only a wet shave gives a good finish – but here even a dry shave gave a clean finish without any irritation at the time or later.

Every item with the unit comes in a strong case but the one minus point is that you must take the wireless charge pad with you when you travel on longer trips.

At the time of publication the Philips S9000 Prestige is available from Amazon for £374.80 including free delivery.
