Chicago Calling

Image of author
Rather than admiring the surroundings, a visit to Chicago sets you the task of finding objects.

Offering to take you on a classic Hidden Object trip through the heart of the Windy City, Lazy Turtle Games has released Amazing Vacation - Chicago.  Concentrating entirely on Hidden Object game play, this game provides you with views that include the Navy Pier, Willis Tower and the Magnificent Mile among their remit as you search for a variety of objects located in different scenes.

Along with the usual options to adjust volume levels for background music and sound effects, you can view the game in full screen mode with a custom cursor.  The game can be played in relaxed mode with no time limit or being restricted by a 10 or 3 minutes limit to complete searches.

The game's various locations are spread over five pages of content with each one containing four Hidden Object scenes that can be accessed in any order.  Each of the scenes can be played with one of four different modes of listing the required items.  By default the list will be presented in normal Text mode but you do have the option to switch to one of the other modes.  The available choices are Silhouette, Jumbled Words or Mirror mode with this latter choice turning the scene and required list to a reversed state of the original.

Although you have the opportunity of selecting each of the four methods of displaying the required list, each scene will limit you to winning three stars.  Once you have built up a supply of seven or more stars for the current page, you can use the appropriate amount of stars to unlock access to the next page where you will find a further four scenes.  Any remaining stars will accompany you and can count towards your next group of seven stars.

Disappointingly this game does not provide you with any snippets of information regarding the various locations displayed in the various scenes.  Nor is there an option to purchase possible souvenirs from the different locations as a type of memento.

You can download Amazing Vacation - Chicago from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.32..  System requirements call for a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 187MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
