Mixing together elements that feature a lake deep enough to submerge and conceal a town with its inhabitants plus various ghostly figures, vengeful spirits, a cowboy gang from the 1890's and a strange amulet results in bringing about the next title from the Friendly Fox catalogue. Entitled Edge of Reality - The Legend of Greenbush, this Hidden Object Adventure offering is available in Collector's Edition format bundling various extra items to supplement the main game.
With adjustable volume levels, full or wide screen viewing, the game can be played in a choice of Casual, Advanced, Expert or Custom difficulty. With these levels you can get different rates of Hint/Skip charging, identification of active or helpful areas and the use of sparkles.
Your role in the game, which starts as you respond to a message from your friend Jesse regarding a strange amulet, is that of Lisa Cassidy. Jesse has called for your help as he believes your archaeological skills could prove useful in examining the amulet and any possible connections there might be to the Legend of Greenbush. This legend concerts the ability for items to raise from the waters of the lake when certain conditions are met.
Assisting you in your quest to solve the mystery of the amulet and the appearance of ghostly figures will be various tools arranged across the base of scenes. You will have access to a map for moving between locations, notes, tasks, achievements, an inventory indicating items needing work, Strategy Guide and a rechargeable Hint feature. You will also have a link to your pet dog, Ozzy, who is always ready to help with any task. A fly-out tag on the left of the screen will reveal when morphing items and turtles can be collected from the current scene.
As you set about your investigating the story of Greenbush and the power of the amulet, you will encounter a variety of paranormal features. Items will need to be collected to complete tasks. Ghosts will be encountered and you will need to learn of the history of Greenbush. Often you will be faced by Hidden Object scenes and mini game puzzles plus you can always call on Ozzy to carry out certain tasks more suited to a canine.
These scenes and puzzles will make use of a variety of different styles as you discover that you will need to power the amulet with magical crystal in order to fend off the an attack from ghosts. In order to activate this protection you will need to rotate and position symbols over vital points in the amulet. Other tasks that need to be perform include navigating a path through dangerous areas, reforming a picture or scene by arranging tiles, walking a tightrope using a balancing pole plus aiming and firing an arrow.
Hidden Object game play, indicated by an outbreak of sparkles, will require the finding of a list of objects displayed various formats. The list could be in words, silhouettes, parts of the scene and a template that fits over part of the scene. In some cases, as well as finding objects, you might need to reposition items correctly within the current scene.
