Redmi Note 10 with 5G

This offering from Xiaomi is another recent offering that is perhaps sold on its photographic and video abilities but instead of it costing a lot it’s more of a mid-range to budget offering. This is a name that may not be known that much in the UK.

The Redmi Note 10 from Xiaomi measures 16x7.5x.9cm, the last figure is at the rear cameras that protrude slightly from the case. The viewable screen is 15.6x7cm and this gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of a tad under 6½ inches as the corners are chamfered. The display is 1080x2400.

Going around the outside on the right side are the volume rocker with on/off and fingerprint reader. The base has microphone USB ‘C’ for charging OTG connection and speaker. The left side has the dual SIM entry point while the top has microphone and 3.5mm socket for headphones. The back has a 3x2cm raised area near the left top corner with the unit’s three cameras and LED flash.

Bootup is a quite impressive 15 seconds while shutdown is two stage process that can still take only two seconds.

It comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage with around 110GB available. It has an Octa-core processor running at 2.2GHz. It comes with the latest version of Android 11.

By default it will show six lines of four App per screen plus the fixed four of Phone, Messages, Google and Camera making 28. The Home screen will show three lines of four below the Google search line. Above this is a digital clock with day and date on the left and Weather info on the right and right at the top the normal Wi-Fi, 4G/5G service info as well as battery state etc. in small icons on the top row.

The display changes as required from 90HZ down to as low as 30HZ when the extra speed is not required making the 5000mAh battery even more economic and two days of use should be the norm between charges.

As the unit supports 18w fast charging it also means less time plugged in.

Now the rather good cameras the rear has 48MP offering as well as 2MP macro and depth sensor units. The front selfie camera is 8MP.

Also in the box is a clear silicon case covering the back and sides as well as a mains to USB charger and separate USB to USB ‘C’ cable.

I liked this unit it felt good in my hand, while I do not 5G available in my area it worked well of 4G and or course on my Wi-Fi.

There are two models available both with 4GB RAM the 64GB memory offering and the 128GB memory offering I was sent. Checking on Amazon the 128GB variant is available for £210 while the 64GB is available for £195.12 although the later attracts £19.47 delivery. Available colours are Chrome Silver, Graphite Grey, Nighttime Blue or Aurora Green.

Alternatively you can get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 directly from Xiaomi for £199 or £209 with a free band 6 watch at the time of writing + delivery in Graphite Grey only.
