Sony Clie TH55

My move over to the Palm platform with Sony's Clie TH55. First Impressions after one week out of the box

Over the last five years I have gone from using a Psion 5mx to a Palm Clie TH55 having spent time using iPAQ's before giving up on PDAs once hotspots took off in London when I used my Vaio Z1SP.

Out of the box I have to say that the first impressions are "yes this is an improvement on all that has gone before". The Clie is lighter than my previous iPAQs and I like the cover that protects the screen. Powered up I can see what Sony have done to the Palm OS with this new reference set. I like the layout that sees Sony go back to a layout similar to Lotus when it had a GUI that looked like a filofax. I have tabs on the side that access Data Book, Addresses, To Do, Memo, Viewer, Reference and Applications.

I attached the Clie to my Vaio and synced with Outlook 2003 using Intellisync Lite shipped. But at first I found that I could not sync my email, which would be good. Perhaps I should upgrade to the full Intellisync ;-)

What I like about my new PDA is the Camera and voice features that add a lot to the note taking ability. I can use my PDA to take snap shots that make life easy.

As with all my Sony devices Bluetooth works well out of the box. I very quickly paired my PDA with my laptop and mobile phone.

Sony music player and a 128MB Memory Stick also means that I can have an iPOD experience in that I have 8 albums stored capable of getting me through the worst of my Tube trips and still leave me with enough power to get me through 10 hours work.

Wifi works as well as it did on my iPAQ.

Thats it for now, other to say that all those who have seen it are also impressed and like it. I will post another review in a few weeks to update these thoughts.
