Adding to its Jewel Match series of titles, Suricate Software has released its Jewel Match Solitaire Fantasy Collector's Edition offering.  In its usual fashion, Suricate Software has packed a number of extra but has more to offer to enhance the playability of what might  appear to be a basic Solitaire card game.  I will return to these extra features a little later.

When playing this game, with its numerous adjustable features, you can set volume levels, brightness and select from the difficulty level of Relaxed, Normal, Timed or Hard before entering this particular world of Solitaire.  The game will consist of over a thousand levels of Solitaire game play.  The type of game play could involve one of the many different Solitaire formats such as Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Yukon, Pyramid or Baker's Dozen to mention just some of the available offerings.  As well as the mixture of the more popular Solitaire styles, the game will enhance the numerous features found in Solitaire in order to test your skill level.  Whether you feel ready or not, this game is always keen to place before you the challenge of facing the more obscure challenge of tackling San Martino Spire and Lady Beth style Solitaire.

If you thought that Solitaire was just about removing cards from a layout then think again.  Removing cards from a Jewel Match layout is the least of your worries.  Among the more usual tasks, you will need to avoid a frog jumping from card to card and blocking you from removing its last card, filling buckets with water to put out a fire, opening locks with keys, breaking a chain with a hammer, cutting vines with a sickle and breaking down barriers with certain cards.  At the same time you will need to be on the lookout for gems hiding behind cards or coins concealed under the cards that you have removed.

Gems are used to finance the construction of castles which I alluded to as part of the bonus features mentioned earlier.  When constructing castles, you will start with Skyhaven Caste before moving on to other fantasy themed buildings.  Any coins collected can be used to pay for various power-ups from an in-game store.  Depending upon your choice of power-ups, this purchases can provide you with more cards, a shuffle facility, the ability to undo a move and posses the Eye of a Seer ability as you stock up on your range of helpful attributes.

As you progress through the different Solitaire levels you will open up access to a variety of additional challenges which you can tackle or ignore as the mood takes you.  You might be faced with Super size levels, Challenge levels consisting of different tasks, Sliding levels, Match levels plus levels based on Suit and Rank features as their guide features.

Providing a diversion from the cornucopia of Solitaire game play, you will also need to complete several important tasks.  Your journey will take you to different areas of the landscape.  The population residing there will require you to provide them will some assistance.  You might need to put out a fire destroying the village.  This will need numerous buckets of water.  Once the fire is extinguished, you will then need to supply the necessary tools to carry out the required rebuilding.

Having completed all the elements of the main game of Solitaire and castle construction, you will be granted access to the Collector's Edition features.  Here you will find extra levels of Solitaire game play, different Solitaire variants, a music player, card back design, wallpaper and trophies that can be won.

You can download this title from Gamehiyse.com where it is priced at $19.99.  This title is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £14.99.  The game requires a 1.2 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 523MN of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
