Oppo Find X3 Neo 5G

This is the latest SmartPhone to cross my desk loaned from Vodafone. I remember when Oppo first arrived in the UK and you saw their name at Wimbledon and I am sure most people had no idea who they were, I noticed it this year at The Queens tennis and I am sure more now know they are a mobile phone company.

It is 15.8x7x1cm the last figure the thickness is where the line of three cameras are slightly proud of the back. The unit weighs 186grams; the viewable screen is 15.1x6.8cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of just under 6½ inches. The screen resolution is 1080x2400.

Going around the outside has the on/off button on the right side, the base has speaker, microphone, USB ‘C’ port and SIM entry point. The left side has the volume rocker while the top has another microphone. The back has the line of cameras in a 4.5x2.4cm raised area .5cm down and .5cm in from the top left corner. The macro camera and LED flash are set beside the main line of cameras.

It comes with a 4500mAh battery, enough even for the heaviest user for a full days use. A full charge can be well under an hour as it supports 65w fast charging. It can be setup to support either 90Hz or 60Hz screen refresh rate.

The unit has four rear mounted cameras and a 32MP front selfie offering. The rear cameras are 50MP, 16MP, 13MP and 2MP. I spent a lot of time experimenting with the many camera modes and while things like zoom are the same in most cameras the rotary dial is nice touch rather than using a couple of fingers.

The Neo has the ability to video from what you see and the reverse so not only capture the video you want but use the selfie camera at the same time to see the opposite view weird when you first try it but it does work. Of course like a number of recent SmartPhones I have reviewed this is all about the cameras and their abilities. However as they take very good still images even in near darkness and videos that even a couple of years ago would have required a professional setup why not.

The Android version is 11 and it comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, it has Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa-core processor.

While this unit comes with 5G there is so far no 5G in my area but it worked fine with 4G.

If your battery fails within three years it will be replaced.

This is a phone that is a camera and not a phone that has a camera. While all SmartPhones tend to have decent cameras this one seems to have solved a lot of problems.

There are lots of different plans available but on a 36 month contract it can cost as little as £14.17 a month with £24.17 upfront.
