Mystery Case Files - The Riddle of Mrs. Bishop is a Hidden Object Adventure game which is available in Collector's Edition format. The game opens as an elderly woman arrives at the Mystery Case Files Agency asking for the Master Detective. As the game casts you in the role of the Agency's Master Detective, you have little option but to accept the case that comes at the same time as problems occur with the Agency's security features. So your first task will be to put these matters right to discover the identity of your client.
Played in the usual choice of Casual, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom difficulty levels, the game offers the player the standard set of tools and assistant features. Arranged across the base of the game's many scenes will be tools covering the current task, an inventory of collected items plus a rechargeable hint and a map feature. There is also a link, in the form of a castle chess piece, to a Strategy Guide delivering a run-through of the game's content. You can also benefit from the mouse pointer's ability to change shape when it is in the vicinity of areas where specific tasks can be carried out.
Once you have sorted out the problems with the Agency's in-house security issues, you can identify that your client is Agnes Brown. Moving to the Brown's residence reveals a building that appears to have issues with mice. Fortunately you are provided with a deactivator to help deal with the numerous mouse traps dotted around the building.
Along with family members and a small staff, the various rooms of the house contain many devices that are often required to carry out tasks that would normally be achieved by quicker methods. The number of the different devices could be due to the fact that Agnes Brown had developed most of them. However she was probably not responsible for the hidden passage ways that were concealed within the building.
As you explore the various rooms in your search to discover why some people in the building hear strange noises. Do the noises have anything to do with the appearance of ghostly figures? You will also need to be on the look out for traps of various types and be prepared to fight off attacks from such forces as robotic dogs.
Often an Agnes Brown device will perform the duty assigned to a mini game puzzle as you attempt to make progress in this title. You will also be faced by several Hidden Object scenes. These tend to use various methods as to how to indicate the required items. Sometimes it could be text, part of the scene or silhouettes. In both mini game puzzle cases and Hidden Object mode you might find yourself need to access several scenes to complete the task.
Once you have completed your main task of enhancing your reputation as the Master Detective, you can dip into the delights of the Collector's Edition bonuses. If you are looking for plenty of head-scratching challenges then you can download Mystery Case Files - The Riddle of Mrs. Brown from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £11.93. The game requires a 1.8 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 1.11GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
