Rescuing Captured Fairies

Image of author
When their dancing time is interrupted, the fairies call on your help to rescue their captured comrades.

Living as they do in a magical forest, the fairies of this world like to come out, whenever they can, in order to dance and play to their heart’s content.  However this period of enjoyment was brought to a sudden end when the mischievous goblins decided to interrupt the proceedings.  They launched a lightning strike on the playful fairies as they were enjoying themselves.  The goblins kidnapped several fairies and carried their victims back to their goblin village.  This action plunged fairyland into a state of despair and darkness thus leaving you with the task of restoring light to the world by saving the captured fairies.  This task can only be carried out by completing a series of Fairyland Solitaire hands of cards.

Prior to entering the Fairyland playing field, you have the option to make decisions and adjust the gaming environment settings plus opt for your choice of fairy character as you select from Celestria, Selenia, Stardust or Tiana avatar.  The creation of profiles will allow different family members to play the game and have their progress recorded.  Adjustments can be made to various volume level settings with the game being viewed in full screen mode.  Other options are available to turn on a mini game feature, timer restriction, score and background effects that include an occasional card battle fight session as a required action as you fight a witch to the death.

When playing this Solitaire game you are given a choice in the appearance of the cards.  You can select from three different card faces with your choice being paired with one of the range of card backs that are available.  The game comes with a choice of four difficulty levels.  You can opt for Relaxed, Casual, Normal or Hard mode settings.  Whatever your chosen level of difficulty, this Solitaire card game will be broken up into blocks of ten hands based around a scene containing items you will be required to find before you can move on to the actual Solitaire game playing action.

Often using views of mesmerising landscape for the background, you will need to tackle various Solitaire challenges.  Rather than stick with the basic pattern of building chains of cards that are either one up or down from the previous card which is the default choice, this version allows you to choose from other methods of linking.  You can look for matching pairs, cards that add up to a total of 14 or test your skill with the delivery of a random choice as you earn coins and stars for completing levels.

Occasionally the Solitaire game play action will be interrupted by a blast of mini game diversion.  This intrusion could involve playing a hand of Blackjack, matching face down cards or picking which of four moving cards bears a star emblem.  Other types of mini games that make an appearance in this game include playing slots and other types of Solitaire game play plus the fight scene mentioned earlier when you play a hand of Solitaire against the computer.

Mini game interruptions are not the only tweaks featured in this Solitaire game.  Some of the cards used during the normal game play will bear a symbol indicating that access to them will be temporary blocked.  This blockage will need to be removed either by the discovery of a special card or by setting up a run of removed card and the use of magic tools.

I feel this card game is better suited to the younger members of the family but older members might still enjoy the challenge.  The game can be downloaded from Gamehuse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or Big Fish Games priced at £7.86.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 256MB of RAM and 136MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
