As its title might indicate, this next offering of "Sort Puzzles - Paws of Pharaoh" brings together elements of organisation plus an animal factor together with an Ancient Egyptian flavour. Linking everything together, the result is a puzzle game concept. Developed by Best Place, this game is available in Collector's Edition format but more of this aspect a little later.
Taking you back to the time of the Ancient Egyptian period, you are placed in the welcoming arms of an Egyptian princess who has adopted the form of a cat. You will be required to progress through 230 levels of game play. This action will involve the tasks that initially involve the sorting and storing of various elements in a number of provided containers of different sizes.
The elements you will need to sort are tiles that have been embellished with different symbols to help identify them from each other. The elements you need to work with are supplied in a sequence of piles that need to be transferred into the test-tube like containers. When moving the tiles into the appropriate containers you will to abide by set rules that will need to be followed. Various power-ups are supplied to help avoid conflicts and issues that may arise.
While the initial stages of the sorting process are rather elementary and easy to carry out, the process does quickly become more complicated and complex as additional rules will be added. Some tiles will have a frozen feature added to them and will need to be thawed before they can be moved to an appropriate container. You could also encounter gold tiles which, when used, have the affect of causing an automatic shuffle so disturbing any plans you might have worked out.
Of course the sorting and storing of the tiles does have some purpose. Each completed task will bring the reward of points and coins. The coins, which do tend to be rather limited in their availability, can be used to finance the real reason you are present in the game. You are there to construct the various buildings and facilities that will help decorate the sands surrounding the Egyptian princess and make her happy and contented.
After enough progress has been made in the main game, you will be given access to the Extras section making up the title's Collector's Edition classification. Located among the various bonus elements will be various wallpaper images and the chance to play back the music tracks found in the game.
This game does tend to lack any addictive quality but at least it gives you practice at sorting and storing items which might prove useful. You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £7.52. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 4096MB of RAM and 209MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
