This is the opening gambit of Hidden Portals Eternal Balance, a Hidden Object Adventure game. This title is available in Collector's Edition format and comes with the option of selecting to play the game in Casual, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom difficulty levels.
The game's action takes place on the alternate world of Luminaria. This is a world which is built on magic and is connected to numerous other worlds via a spider web type of arrangement. When disaster occurs in Luminaria, the effects can quickly spread far and wide over other linked worlds in a kind of rolling motion.
The reason for Alice's journey to Luminaria is to stop her father's attempt to interfere with the Clock of Harmony, central to the world of Luminaria's well-being. Alice's father's idea was to alter the smooth running of time so that his wife did not die. In order to stop her father's actions, you will need to help Alice complete a variety of tasks that will include creating a breathing tube for use when working underwater, use special flying shoes, build a paraglide device and fire arrows at a set of targets.
These tasks will require visits to different Luminarian facilities. You will need to spend time and learn more at the Temple of Guardians. take part in ceremonies at the Altar of Visions and investigate the Great River of Magic. Other places you must visit include the Temple of Shadows, the Temple of Raptures and the Cavern of Memories.
While travelling between the different locations on Luminaria, you will need to be on the look-out for fragments of time that will be required to undo the damages caused by Alice's father's action before you can put things right. The usual mixture of Hidden Object scenes and mini game puzzles will add to the challenges you will need to face. Although visually impressive, I felt the story line was a little disjointed and kept reminding me of a title I had reviewed several years ago but whose title escape me.
