Continuing its look at the work of the paranormal detective Dana Strange, Elephant Games next report comes with the heading “Truth Will Out”. This particular case's opening gambit starts as a stranger walks into the Strange Investigation offices and sets Dana the task of working out the identity of a woman from the basic evidence of a single photograph. This was no real challenge to Dana. By using her detective skills and access to various official databases, Dana was quickly able to deduce the woman in the photo was the stranger’s wife who had recently gone missing.
Satisfied with Dana’s deduction, the stranger, who was a successful business man called Kevin Wood, straight-away hired Dana to find his missing wife and this begins the case entitled “Truth Will Out”. It quickly becomes evident that matters were not what they seemed. The arrival of a ransom demand changed the focus of Dana’s investigation to one that involved kidnapping and the demand for money for the return of the woman.
With time now a major element in the case, Dana had to begin working through a variety of tasks that would involve travelling between different locations, using the same car driving sequence, in search of clues and possible witnesses to back up the evidence gathered from the video clips of Kevin Wood’s security system. There was also the evidence of the missing woman’s sister plus what had happened to an associate of Kevin Wood who had mysteriously disappeared leaving behind a cuff link to add to the mystery.
Dana’s investigation will require tackling several mini game puzzles and dealing with Hidden Object scenes. You could be required to guide Dana through a grid map, rearrange items to satisfy rules, defeat an opponent in taking control of a grid area, restore a picture from torn scraps and pair facts with points of evidence that might be connected. Hidden Object scenes will sometimes involve finding required items or having to replace items in their correct position in a scene. The required list of items could be presented in word format, as silhouettes, looking for pairs and placing cut-out stencils over desired items to complete the link.
Along with the main tasks of gathering evidence, you will need to be on the look-out for various collectibles appearing in scenes. Once found, these collectibles can be used to complete the Secret Room and Expedition features from the title’s Collector’s Edition bonus feature which also include a bonus chapter reveal some details of Dana’s background as a young child.
