Family Roadshow, a title developed by AviGames, invites you to experience the making of the content for a televised travel show. Along with the travel and tourist aspect of the programme, this title features Hidden Game play and puzzle solving challenges. Providing the human content aspect of the show will be a family of three made up of James and Mary with their daughter Emily. Accompanying them on their travels will be Paula who is in charge of the actual filming and various technicians fulfilling minor roles.
The planned route for the family and television crew to follow covers numerous countries as they visit the Netherlands, Indonesia. Mexico, Spain, Greece, Morocco. Australia, Canada, Hawaii, New Zealand and Portugal. At each country an appropriate location will introduce itself with a Hidden Object scene. Often using a two-stage approach to the presentation of its required tasks, the location could ask you to look for items listed in word, silhouette, pairs, symbols or parts of an image format.
When the list is in text format then colour could be used to help identify when the item might be conceal by others or require a specific task to be carried out before it could be located. Along with the main view of the scene, the view could hold one or two secret areas which are identified by an outbreak of sparkles. These secret areas could contain items you need to find. Each scene will also contain a raccoon and a souvenir item that counts as a Director's special challenge. This particular item will be revealed by clicking on a side-mounted chevron of the right side of the screen.
Having completed the Hidden Object aspect of game play, you will then need to tackle a mini game puzzle. The game offers support for a variety of puzzle type formats which are presented in a random order. You might need to clear different elements by identifying the order you need to remove screws holding the elements together. Other types of puzzles include spotting the differences between two scenes, matching pairs of face-down cards, positioning lights to illuminate a scene, fill an area with irregular blocks, reassemble a mask from fragments or rotate the central circular area of a map to create a route to travel home.
As this title is available in Collector's Edition format, once you have completed the title's main 30 locations, you can then access a number of bonus levels with extra puzzles, download various wallpaper scenes and visit s a souvenir section to examine the holiday memories. You can download Family Roadshow from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games priced at £11.75. The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 938MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
