Oppo Find X5 Pro

Having recently reviewed another Find X5 device that had what I considered a ‘strange’ feature I was more careful when I did the setup and this unit did not have it, however as it also did an update to the ‘Color Overlay’ of the Android operating system this could have been why it now works as I would consider all phones should function.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro measures 15x7.4x1cm the last figure at the camera bump top left of the back, it weighs 219 grams.

Going around the outside has the on/off button on the right side; the base has speaker, USB ‘C’ for charging and the SIM entry point. The left side has volume down and up buttons while the top is clear. The back has a slightly raised area top left and instead of it being raised it is sloped up. The viewable screen is 7.4x15cm and the front selfie camera is top left but you really do not notice it.

It has a Snapdragon 8 processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It comes with Android 12 and ColorOS overlay V12.1. It has a 5000mAh battery and with the right charger you can get 50% recharge in 12 minutes and 100% charge in just 47 minutes. It has 10bit colour depth which can capture over 1 billion colours. The viewable screen is 6.7inches.

Bootup is a very acceptable 14 seconds from the 4 second hold of the on/off button, shutdown is also very quick on/off button and volume up and just 3 seconds.

As with almost all recent SmartPhones it is all about the cameras and this unit is no exception, here however this also extends to the audio. So you can get excellent night vision and 4K video with the Hasselblad Camera.

SLR level technology 5 axis optical image stabilization giving up to 3 degree anti-shake.

50MP wide angle camera, 50MP ultra-wide angle camera and 13MP telephoto camera all built into the tiny bump.

50x zoom is rather nice but for me the other end of the spectrum .6x gives so much more allowing you to capture so much more when it is impossible to get further back because rooms have walls.

As with most cameras there are a range of Pay Monthly plans one such from Vodafone that gives you 250GB of Data with unlimited calls and texts for £46 per month with £49 upfront. If you don't want a monthly plane then this phone can be found SIM free from Amazon, currently priced at £1,030.
