MOFT Thin Laptop Stand

Those old enough to remember manual typewriters will know that you had a good rake on the keys so your hands were always in the right position to type. Desktop computer keyboards less so but if you used the fold out keyboard support correctly there was still some rake, now sadly notebooks have flat keyboards, here is one solution.

This is a single flat sheet that is already partially cut through and pressed out to form a shape – well three shapes actually – that can either sit flat onto the back of your notebook increasing its thickness by less than .2 cm and raising it by zero degrees or by 15 degrees which can give a 5cm rake, finally it can raise the unit by 25 degrees which is around 8cm all this depends on the size of the notebook you attach it to.

It fits any notebook from 11.6 to 15.6 inches.

The dimensions of the sheet are 17x22x.3cm.

Even though it is a single sheet it is in two parts with the second partially attached to the first. This second part has a strong adhesive under a thin protective film this is 22cm at the top after 4cm it gradually reduces in width down to 13cm wide.

My notebook is a 15inch offering and I have attached this to its back; it’s easy to use it either flat or at 15 or 25 degree rake. At the 25 degree angle it’s more like typing on a manual typewriter – for those old enough to remember them – however at the 15 degree (mid position) it’s very comfortable and I even seem to produce less typos.

It seems strange that what arrives as a flat sheet can just construct itself and the only thing you need to do is remove the protective film from the back of the part sheet.

The instructions state it can support up to 8kilos (18lb) which is far heavier than any notebook I have seen.

This product is certainly a gadget that fits my definition of the word gadget, ‘something that makes a task easier’.

It is stated that the adhesive back can be removed and then reattached to another notebook. This feature I have not tested nor is it stated over what period of time is this true.

While there is no instruction to make sure the back of the notebook is clean a wipe over to remove any grime before attaching is surely sensible.

The clever way this sheet has been constructed means you cannot push it out incorrectly and the illustrations on the packet show it in all three positions.

At the time of publication the MOFT Adhesive Foldable Laptop Stand is available from Amazon for £24.99.
