Over the centuries leprechauns have been using their magical power to bestow luck on those who could benefit from its arrival. This luck could be supplied in the form of leprechaun coins which need to be found in an appropriate hiding place before the luck becomes available and can be used correctly. As humans benefitted from the luck of leprechauns, so their belief in leprechaun was strengthen and this would have the affect of restoring the leprechaun magic power.
However the start of this Elephant Games' title brings a change of circumstances as mischievous clerichauns steal the leprechaun coins and even kidnap one of the leprechaun family you are meant to protect. In order to return matters to their normal state of affairs, you will be required to help solve the downturn in leprechaun magic. This will require you to make the change and visit the human world as you play the game in a choice of Custom, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom difficulty.
With this dual world environment, the game's graphics have a story book look to them as you visit a variety of scenes and locations. Providing assistance in whichever world is current, you will have access to an array of tools that feature a Map, Task, Inventory, Strategy Guide and a rechargeable Hint feature which is represented by an appropriate pot of gold. As you progress through the game's tasks you will be rewarded with a magic lens. This sits in the top left corner of the screen and can be used to help identify the source of good luck within the current location.
Transferring between the two different worlds in this game requires the use of a portal. In order to use this portal you will need to complete a number of tasks that involve finding a human who deserves the gift of a leprechaun coin and its accompanying luck. Similarly moving between different scenes in the leprechaun world will also require a number of tasks.
The game also features a number of other tasks to accompany those required to move between scenes. You will need to get involve in a fight with a raccoon and a leprechaun who has plans to make himself king. The game also has a number of mini game puzzles and Hidden Object puzzles.
The mini game puzzle collection is varied in the types of task required. You might need to link wings by following trails, put together the torn pieces or a scene or arrange the sections of a circular item plus put together the torn scraps of a note. Other tasks could involve distracting human so they do not notice you secretly placing a coin, turn and fire cannons or direct the mouse to draw over an on-screen symbol.
Hidden Object action will often require you to find items listed in word format from a scene or book layout or find the items that reveal the words missing from a story. There are also a number of Spot the Difference scenes to examine and even a scene that contains items that match clue represented by outline sketches.
While there were odd occasions when the dual world environment cause a little confusing, I generally enjoyed this game which can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £14.90. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 823MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
