As the follow-up offering to the original Maze of Realities, Domini Games has released Maze of Realities – Synergy of Worlds. Available in Collector’s Edition format, this Hidden Object Adventure title tales you into Etheria where you will have to deal with the effects caused by the World Tree being stricken by various ailments. This disease was threatening the stability of the world through causing threats and the appearance of aggressive creatures.
Following the normal procedure of making adjustments to the Domini Game’s environment, you can select to play this game in a choice of Casual, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom difficulty levels. These levels offer various speeds of charging for Hint and Skip features, the frequency of active zone appearance and the amount of details provided by the game’s Map tool feature.
Your involvement in the game opens as your friend Emma invites you to join her in the investigation of a strange discovery of a Tree growing in a pit discovered in the shrunken remains of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. The Lighthouse was one of the Wonders of the Ancient World. It ancient times it had proved useful until partially destroyed by an earthquake.
On arriving at this recently discovered site, you find that Emma, sadly lacking in patience, has already disappeared into the discovered pit, leaving you no alternative but to follow her lead and find yourself transported to Etheria, an environment located at the base of this growth known as the World Tree. Etheria is a kingdom where the population live in bowls that are linked together by the wines growing outwards from the World Tree and hold everything together.
As usual, this Adventure will follow the standard pattern of introducing its various options and features in the form of a tutorial as you try out the different mouse options and certain tasks. These actions also bring into play the different tools available to you. You will be provided with a Journal with sections for Tasks and Notes, a Map, Inventory showing items that are sometimes accompanied by a plus sign to indicate they requires some extra work before use and access to a Strategy Guide and Hint feature.
Access is also provided to check on progress to finding Collectibles in the form of Tree Flowers, Tree Sprouts and World Cures scattered throughout the game. A further link to checking on the Decisions made during important points, after the flow of the game, is provided.
Moving around Etheria and its reliance of plant life existence, will bring you into contact with various animals, some of which have recently become aggressive, plus other life forms that seem to offer help if you are sure you can trust them. Among the tasks that you will need to complete are those of breaking up a fight between a wasp and a bumblebee. Later you will need to restore the bumblebee to full health, an important task as Bumblebees have an important role to play in this environment as they are the only means of transport to the royal district of Etheria.
When not making Decisions that might affect the flow of this story line and restoring the attitude of a panther to his normal friendly self, you will need to tackle 16 Hidden Object challenges and 47 mini game puzzles. With their presence identified by an outbreak of sparkles, Hidden Object game play tends to list its required items in text of silhouette format and will give you the option to switch to playing a Match 3 game at any time.
When mini game puzzle challenges are the focus, you will be offered the choice of an Easy or Hard version of the problem. Among the collection of mini game puzzles available to this title are those of finding pairs of items, untangling a parachute, recreating symbols, playing a tune, creating a pathway to follow or arranging mushrooms. You can even try your hand at aiming a crossbow and linking an infection to its source.
Having sorted out a variety of problems faced by the people and creatures of Etheria, you can then move on and face the ancient spirit of Ignia in a bonus chapter and tackle other bonus items forming part of this title.
