A Silent Conspiracy

Playing Solitaire can sometimes provide a detective with evidence or clues to solve a case of fraud and mismanagement.

Detective Secrets Solitaire - Silent Conspiracy is a card game with a Solitaire theme encased within a detective story involving fraud and mismanagement.  Developed by DIGIMIGHT, this title combines cut-scenes, mini game puzzles and 300 Solitaire layouts in a story line that I found to be more than a little confusing in its flow and the way it was presented.

The game opens as you are introduced to Grace, a young woman, who had expected to inherit her parent's property on their passing.  But unfortunately they died in debt.  Suspecting fowl play was responsible, Grace hired a detective called Jerry to look into matters.  However Jerry was missing thus leaving Grace to cope on her own as Solitaire game play takes over the action.

The Solitaire aspect of this game covers 300 layouts that have been split into five blocks that each contain 60 layouts.  Following the standard pattern of creating chains of one higher or lower in sequence, you will need to clear the layout of cards from the work area.  As you work at clearing the various layouts of cards, a variety of features and specific cards will make an appearance that could either hinder or assist progress.

Initially you will be granted access to an Undo feature but latter this feature will be joined by other options.  In some cases you may be able to change the value of a card, shuffle remaining cards and remove a specific card from the layout.  You will also be able to earn or even purchase a Joker card that could prove useful in continuing a chain.

Adding to the general appearance of some cards, an overlaid could be of chains, handcuffs, flowers or a bottle. In each case some task will need to be performed in order to remove the overlay present on the card before it could be used in the chain of removed cards.  Some times the removal of an overlay could produce some side effects that would influence other elements of the game.

Your progress through the numerous Solitaire layouts making up the game will be interrupted at intervals with cut-scenes.  Sometimes introducing a new scene forming part of the game, these interruptions will feature an additional character such as Mr. Wood Jr., Brittany or Constable Harris who is convinced Grace is responsible for the current situation.  Dialogue will be presented which helps advance the story line.  In some cases you will find yourself being faced by a mini game puzzle that could be based on a Hidden Object scene, recreating an image or fitting elements into a silhouette shape.

You can download Detective Secrets Solitaire from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 319MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
