When an evil Wizard tries to take over the world. your help will be required to win the day.

Grandma Games has continued its series of City of Stories with  the Hunter's Heart offering.  Available in Collector's Edition format, this Hidden Object Adventure title bundles a number of extra features to enhance the appeal of the main game.  This game is presented in two episodes spread over books entitled Dark Invader and Hunter's Journey.

With the usual array of adjustable settings applied to the gaming environment, you can play this game in a choice of Casual, Advanced, Hard or Custom difficulty.  Rather than the more traditional approach of scenes overlaid by an arrangement of tools for easy access, this title opts for a story book type layout as you progress through a series of book pages that open with a tutorial style introduction to the game's leading characters of the brother and sister combination of Beatrice and Liam before continuing with their adventures.

While out one day searching for food, Beatrice and Liam discover a mysterious book.  Rather than contain a title, this book features a decorative cover.  With their love of book reading prevalent, Beatrice and Liam start to read the book's content which features brave heroes and evil villains when strange events begin to occur with noises similar to falling furniture and monsters appear to attack Beatrice and Liam.

Fortunately a typical hero characters comes to their aid and recues them.  The stranger is Damien, a hunter from another world that is being overtaken by an evil wizard called Amodeus.  This wizard is searching for the book recently found by Beatrice and Liam.  Once found this book will make him more powerful and thus the game begins in earnest.

With Beatrice and Damien taking the lead roles, you will need to assist them in their attempt to stop Amodeus from completing his evil schemes.  Tackled page-by-page, you will need to work through a series of tasks that include Hidden Object type scenes, mini game puzzles that sometimes offer a choice of Easy or Hard mode, plus the chance of dealing with morphing elements and repositioning items governed by set directions..

Rather than being limited to a single task within a scene, sometimes you could find yourself having to undertake a variety of operations that will need to be carried out over multiple pages.  The mixture of mini game action could require you to navigate a maze. restore a scene by different methods, place characters in their appropriate scene and rearranging tiles.  In the case of Hidden Option game play, you might need to search for items in text format, as silhouettes or as part of the scene. In some cases you might need to repair items before they can be found.

As you progress through the game, you will need to deal with various characters including a witch called Joganix who can prove helpful.  You will also have to help cure a wounded Phoenix that could prove vital in your campaign to stop Amodeus from fulfilling his schemes and save the worlds of Beatrice, Liam and Damien.

As mentioned earlier, this game is made up of two book.  Once you have completed the first book entitled Dark Invader, you can move on to Hunter's Journey.  This second book is more concerned with Damien's life back in his home world using the same style of story telling in book format.  The different approach to the game's presentation format certainly suited the story line and made a pleasant change.
