With Chronicles of Albian 3, Playcademy has returned to the environment of Albian. This is a magical land, hidden from normal view by layers of spells, that is home to the most powerful wizards, sorcerers and magicians. Helping keep everything run smoothly and in some sort of order is the Fairy Godmother known as Gwendolyn. She also acts as your aunt in this tale of The Vanishing Village which is available in Collector's Edition format.
With the usual options of adjusting various volume levels plus opting for a custom cursor and a tutorial feature, the game starts as Gwendolyn returns from a relaxing break on a local beach, to find that the Albian Village had vanished without a trace. The disappearance only affected the actual buildings and resources, leaving all the villages homeless without a roof over their heads. Fortunately one residence still remained and this was the multi-room Albian Castle. With just a slight reluctance, Gwendolyn was happy to accommodate villages as her guests until she could solve the mystery of the disappearing village and restore everything to normal.
With at least 17 different areas, the castle would need a great deal of work to make it suitable to accommodate the extra input of guests. Each area would require several attempts as items were located and moved to appropriate locations. This type of task would be carried out in Hidden Object fashion mode. By entering each room or area, you will be expected to find a text list of items plus three gems. With the assistance of a hint feature, all the items in the text list must be found but you are on your own with regards the gems which are small and could be tricky to find. The value of all the items found will automatically go towards the cost of the vital ingredients that Gwendolyn needs to reverse the disappearance of the Albian village.
While Hidden Object activity provides the main part of your work load, you will also be faced with a wide ranging set of puzzle solving tasks. Every so often a puzzle will block your progress. Sometimes the puzzle could involve unlocking a puzzle box or spotting the differences between two images. Solving Sudoku, Nonogram, Solitaire and playing a music keyboard in the correct order are other tasks needing to be completed as are those that involve fitting shapes into a box, directing a light beam and arranging pipes to create a flow of water from source to delivery.
Gwendolyn's hard work can be started when she manages to build up the resources to remove the magic spell that caused the village to disappear. However as the spell inflicted on the village was so powerful, it could only be removed pieces by pieces. Gradually as her resources become available, Gwendolyn will be able to restore elements such as the Inn, Tavern, Fountain, Adventurers Guild, Tailors, Bookstore, Barber Shop. Bakery, Mayor's Office, Market, Magic Police Headquarters, Aqueduct, Residential District, Cobblers, Bath House, Watch Tower, Duke's Keep and The Heights.
Having restored the village and returned her quests to their own dwellings you can then tackle bonus mini game puzzles and Hidden Object scenes, check out wallpaper and decorate a magic room feature in the games' Collectors Edition section. You can download Chronicles of Albian 3 - The Vanishing Village from Gamehouse.com where it is available priced at $19.99. The game requires a 1.2 GHz processor with 1024 MB of RAM and 496MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
