Amanda's Magic Book 13 - Song of the Drowned Garden is e-Funsoft's latest addition to its extensive collection of Match 3 titles.  This title opens as the inquisitive pair of Amanda and Charlie are enjoying a later night gondola boat trip while on their holiday in Venice.  As the boat trip reaches its destination, Amanda and Charlie encounter an old man playing a violin. 

At the conclusion of his performance, there is a blinding light and the area surrounding Amanda and Charlie is somehow disturbed and our two heroes are transported into Giardino Affondato.  This is an underwater garden that has a music theme.  In this location, Amanda and Charlie find themselves learning about how music is connected to the breathing of life.  The game then switches mode as a series of Match 3 level game play takes over,

The Match 3 game play follows the same pattern that is featured in a number of other titles from the e-Funsoft stable.  The game 70+ levels will be split between five chapters that are used to progress the story line.  Each chapter will feature four upgrades that must be activated by the use of Stars earned by completing the various levels of Match 3 action.

Each Match 3 level will consist of a centrally positioned grid which is sandwiched between available power-ups on the left and the grid's specific on the right.  The grid's challenge will consist of the number and types of tiles that need to be removed from the grid to complete it. 

Tiles are removed from the grid by using standard methods.  Swapping two adjacent tiles can create a group of three or more tiles which are then removed.  The resulting space will then be filled by other tiles falling downwards.  Other tiles can be removed through the use of the supplied power-ups and bombs you create by forming groups of more than four tiles during normal action.

While most tiles can be removed by these methods, there is one type of tile that requires its own special method.  This tile is an artefact.  It can only be removed by creating a pathway beneath it so that it falls to the base of the grid from where it can be removed.  If the grid features an artefact tile then this item will always be included in the challenge.

Earlier I mentioned that each chapter featured  updates that need to be upgraded.  Following each upgrade, the game will interpose a static cut-scene featuring printed dialogue to help move the story line along as Amanda and Charlie discovering more about the underwater garden and the effect music can have.  A Skip option will allow you to cut these interludes short.
