This is one of the few pieces of software that is always installed on my PC or notebook, I have used it for years and apart from a couple of occasions when I have had to do a total reinstall of everything when the hard disk failed all other problems – including my stupidity – have been resolved by visiting my last backup normally to restore files.

For just over a year I have not had other security software and just relied on Acronis – now Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office – to keep me safe from those who wish me harm. Some may wish to make money from things like Ransomware and others just want to prove they can make life difficult.
Apart from just being able to restore your PC on occasions it will not boot up – and as far as I know this is the only product that will do so without any other Windows software – it can of course also restore files or folders that may have been removed by mistake or by other means.
The other features are the ability to defeat Ransomware, Malicious Files, Zoom Injection Attacks, Illicit Cryptomining and Malicious Websites.
I no longer need Anti-Virus software as this product does that as well regularly doing full or quick scans and you can do one yourself anytime you wish from the Protection page. The same page also shows any vulnerability’s.
A lot of people run short of space and while you will always be told instill a larger hard disk you could Archive large or other files not recently used, again it can do this for you without easily.
If you have multiple PC’s with Acronis you can arrange to synchronize files across them.
I have no space to mention them here but there are ten smaller utilities provided within the product to do useful things for you.
There is also an online Dashboard to allow you to synchronize in the background over a network.
With last year’s version there was a problem which occurred causing the remaining time details to reset and it involved me having to talk to technical support and once it was decided that mine was not a trivial problem I was assigned a senior person to work through it and this went on over a number of online calls till it was tracked down and the next release included a fix. If all technical support departments were like that it would make everyone’s life easier.
Acronis is sold as a license normally for twelve months and during that time you are entitled to all bug fixes, updates and even new versions.
