As you might suppose from its title, Detective Agency Mosaics 2 is the follow-up offering to AWIGOR's report on the cases of Sharon Holmes. Continuing in the footsteps of her now retired famous detective, Sharon is always willing to put her investigative skills to the test as she solves crimes that have defeated the best minds at Scotland Yard. In this latest case, Sharon is called upon to investigate the poisoning of a hat shop owner which has left him in a critical condition.
When joining Sharon in solving this particular case, you can make adjustments to the game playing environment. These adjustments include setting audio levels for background music and sound effects plus opt for full screen viewing and selecting of the tile set to be used during the numerous Nonogram sessions that are featured throughout this game. Various types of mini game puzzles will also appear at intervals during to help add some variety to the game's challenge.
Using her inquisitive mind in search for clues and evidence, Sharon will need to progress through 120 levels of Nonogram game play. These levels are split into set of six challenges which need to be worked through in sequence. Each Nonogram level will be made up of six layers as you fill in the correct cells using the appropriate colour using the numeric clues supplied across the top and down the left side of the Nonogram grid. Providing assistance in completing the Nonograms will be four power-ups that can be used to reveal the content of a designated cell. Once used a power-up will require time to recharge before it can be used again.
Occasionally the Nonogram grid will gives you access to a mini game puzzle. This puzzle's presence will be indicated by the appearance of a red question mark on the grid. This diversion into mini game territory will require you to fit various irregular shapes into a set space area without leaving any gaps.
Having complete a set of six Nonogram levels, you will be given access to a second type of mini game puzzle. With this puzzle you will need to move around and replace blocks by completing columns and rows within an area to reveal an image of your next point of call in the investigation.
Spread throughout the game are linking cut-scenes. These help advance the story line and any progress in Sharon's investigation, Generally these cut-scenes feature Ms Holmes and one of the various other characters including a typical London bobby. Any dialogue issued in these scenes will be in printed rather than spoken format.
Rewards earned for completing Nonogram levels and mini game puzzles can be used to help decorate the Holmes study. Depending upon your bank balance, you can purchase items such as a telephone, clock, camera, pen & ink facility and a Sherlock Holmes book. You never know when such items might help solve the crime.
With its mixture of Nonogram game play and puzzle solving, Detective Mosaics 2 can certainly provide you with a challenge. It is available from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £7.40. System requirements call for a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 82.6MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
