As weekends come and go, AVI Games has increased its Amazing Weekend series with version 3 of its Search and Relax mixture of Hidden Object searching with puzzle solving game play offering. Following the pattern established in earlier titles in this series, this latest product presents its content over a number of Blocks. Each Block will consist of three Hidden Object scenes and a mini game puzzle. While the first Block will be immediately accessible, any subsequent Blocks will be locked and blocked from entry until you have built up the necessary fee in the form of reward Stars.
In order to move on to the next Block, you will need seven Stars which can be earned from completing the Hidden Object scenes on offer in the current Block. Each of the three Hidden Object scenes can be completed three times by changing the method by which the required items will be displayed. In this way you could earn yourself three Stars for each Hidden Object scene.
By default you will probably find yourself tackling the scene with a text based list. On the subsequent tackling of the scene, you can change the display format for listing required items to use a choice of images, silhouettes, pairs of a specific number of one type of item. While the actual scene will remain the same, the items in the various lists formats will change.
As well as the required list of items, each scene will also contain one or two sparkled areas that might contain the items you need. You can enter these sparkling areas any time to search for required items. When searching the scenes you need to be on the look out for a raccoon, any garbage that may be found for recycling, a souvenir item indicated on the list format screen plus an occasional silhouette displayed on the search panel. To assist your search, you will be provided with a magnify facility and a rechargeable Hint feature.
To complement the Hidden Object scene, a Block will also contain a mini game style puzzle which comes with an offer of two Star reward by tackling the puzzle twice. Initially I was expecting the mini game puzzle to offer a choice of Easy or Hard but instead you were show two slightly different puzzles either with different scenes or a change in components. Among the various types of mini game puzzles you will encounter will be travelling through a maze, matching pairs of face down cards, Spot the Difference between scenes, swapping elements to create a scene and completing an irregular jigsaw.
Once you have built up your supply of Stars to cover the entry fee of seven Stars, you will be allowed to move on to the next Block. Any remaining Stars will remain with you until used later. Once the full set of Blocks has been completed then you have access to the product's Collector's Edition bonus items. The bonus items will consist of an additional three Blocks with their own supply of Hidden Object scenes and puzzle mini game. There are also a further twelve puzzle games plus an opportunity to collect any souvenir items you may have missed first time through. In addition you can replay the game's music tracks and view wallpaper scenes.
Amazing Weekend - Search and Relax 3 Collector's Edition can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games where it is priced at £15.04. The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 678MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
