Keen to find more about aspects of Nature within the world, this title could help.

Now up to version 5, Nature Escapes is a Hidden Object puzzle title from the inventive people at Tiny Little Lion.  Available in Collector's Edition format, this title bundles a number of bonus items to supplement the appeal of a picturesque journey through breath-taking landscapes with more of a spattering of puzzle solving mini games.  These bonus items include extra chapters, wallpaper, music, Trivia and Dev plants among its offering.

A range of options are available when setting up this game.  You can opt for either Relaxed or Challenge mode which makes use of a slower or faster Hint/Skip recharging features plus a timer setting.  Further options allow you to select from ambient, atmospheric and calming or a relaxing background music output.  There is also a choice of full screen or a specific resolution setting.

Spread over 24 chapters, the game takes you on a journey that features Hidden Object game play using different styles and a  mixture of puzzling game play.  You follow a set path offered by the game with no real option to take a diversion should the mood takes you.

Hidden Object game play action tends to follow two different patterns.  You will either be presented with a single scene that is packed with a number of different options.  A panel running across the base of the scene will contain, listed in text format, the various items you need to locate in the scene.  The panel will also provide access to Hint and Super Hint features plus a magnifier tool. You also get a link to a second scene that has its own list of required items.

Each scene will also feature a hidden photo which, once found, will provide you will cash that can be used to pay for development of a My Garden aspect which becomes available later in the game.  When searching scenes you can also be on the look-out for three morphing items.

The second Hidden Object mode featured in this title retains the two scene aspect of the earlier mode but this time the two scenes are presented side-by-side.  This appearance may encourage you to think you are in for a Spot the Difference task.  But this is not the case as a list of items appearing across the bottom of these scenes may indicate.  You will need to find the items in this list which could be found in either of the two scenes.  No clue is given as to which scene may contain the required items.

Mixed in with the Hidden Object sessions, the game presents a variety of puzzle mini games.  You might need to arrange different regular shaped block so that they fill up a set area or put together the pieces of a jigsaw.  Other puzzle types include finding pairs in an layout of face down cards or by finding pairs of items within a busy scene plus rotate section of a scene to create a complete an image or moving slider pieces to produce an image.

After the completion of the Hidden Object based elements, you will be rewarded with some information regarding an item from the scene.  This information could refer to a particular plant life even though animals are presented in many of the displayed scenes.

Even when opting to play the game in its easier format, I found I often had to rely on the Hint feature to help my progress as some required items were-hidden in certain scenes.  Many it was a sign that my ages eyes were not at their best.  I also felt that matters were not help by an occasional spelling mistake in word lists and some of the instructions for some puzzle were less than helpful as they just stated "Click on an item to solve the puzzle".

While certainly challenging, Nature Escape 5 would not qualify as a favourite title.  You can download it from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or Big Fish Games priced at £15.04..  The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 4096MB of RAM and 2.08GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
