Mind Flex from Mattel - Great Present for all ages
If you're looking for a great Christmas present this year then the Mind Flex is one to consider. I was intrigued at the idea of a game that could be controlled by the mind. You can make a ball go up and down, through hoops, land on a see saw and fly through the air just by concentrating.
There are two parts to the Mind Flex, the roller-coaster style console and a headband through which you control the ball on the maze of different games.
The headset is a band which fits across the forehead, with a metal sensor which you position above the left eye. Wires come down and are attached to your ears. Yes, it does look very weird, but believe it or not it's this headset and the power of your mind that controls the console!
Place the small foam ball on the console and start to concentrate. As you focus your mind an air fan starts up and blows the ball into the air. The more you concentrate the higher the ball goes. Relaxing your attention lets the ball down.
First of all you practice making the ball stay in the air and then practice making it go up and down. Then you are ready to get the ball to go around the console in circles. A knob on the front directs the air fan and the ball will follow, if you can keep your concentration up.
Once you've mastered the basic skills there are a variety of obstacles you can place on the console including ring towers for you to navigate the ball through the different hoop set ups. Maze cages with different configurations to steer the ball through. The funnel cannon was one of our favourites. Direct the ball through the bottom of one funnel, then concentrate hard to project the ball into the air, across the console and down into another funnel. This is not at all easy as you have to be quite subtle in your control of the ball. Add to that the sea-saw and the propeller wheel and it will keep you going for hours. You can place these obstacles anywhere on the circle, so there are literally hundreds of combinations to create your own obstacle course in Freestyle mode.
There's a host of other games which make use of a set of lights on the board. In Danger Zone you navigate the ball to avoid lit up danger zones and there's a game of chase the lights on the console.
We found the Mind Flex on Amazon for £63.97 including free delivery Mind Flex on Amazon for $54.54 including free delivery Mind Flex on Amazon for €117,99 and would thoroughly recommend it for fun and games for almost any age!
