Pokémon Lamp Alarm Clock

This is ideal for a first alarm clock for a child; it can also act as a night light. Dependent on the child’s age it can be powered by ‘AAA’ batteries or USB. It also has a built in sensor so you can even check the room’s temperature.

The Pokémon Lamp Alarm Clock has a rectangular base unit measuring 11x4x5cm with a rabbit – the light – on top that is 13cm tall to the tips of its ears; however the light is from its feet to its head just under 10cm. The display is around 6x2.5cm which means you get 2cm high digits for the clock; easily seen even the child has less than perfect sight.

The clock shows hours and minutes in either twelve or twenty four hour format with the day of the week above the minutes. To the right of this are three items in a column, the top one the time the alarm is set for, below this the month and the day and finally the temperature with can be shown in Fahrenheit or Celsius.

The top, back and sides of the unit are brown with the area around the clock display in cream.

The left side of the display has a red button that turns the light in the rabbit on and off. There is a similar button on the right of the display to silence the alarm.

The rabbit itself is a lighter shade of brown then a light yellow and then the same shade of brown again with its erect ears light and dark brown.

The night light shows on the two lighter shades of brown. It is not bright but then you do not want a bright night light and if it was it would run down the three ‘AAA’ batteries if that is how you power it.

For a young child it might be better to run it on batteries as any lead dangling could end up going round the child’s neck should it pull the rabbit off the table.

For a school age child that still may detest the dark then this can safely be used with the supplied USB lead that can then plug into a USB plug front.

Full instructions on initial setup are in the box. I might suggest setting it up in position if running without batteries as all settings would be lost without power.

Back has the battery bay which has a small Philips screw to stop an inquisitive child removing the batteries.

The setup has four well marked buttons mode, set, back and forward.

This is a well-made toy that tells the time and still provides the child the comfort of a night light.

At the time of publication the Pokémon Lamp Alarm Clock is available from Amazon for £27.35 including free delivery.
