Devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6

With the exception of last year Devolo bring out updates and improvements to speed and performance of their product, be it in the Wi-Fi or even the connection over power line. So there is plenty to tell you about as 2021 had everyone more interested in not catching Covid than improving the speed of their below par Internet connection.

You plug their unit into a power socket somewhere near your Modem then at another point – on the same ring main – plug into another power socket. Whatever speed you are getting near your Modem should also be the same at the second – or third unit, so no long Ethernet cables which could otherwise be a trip hazard. However it is not just with devices that use Ethernet that can appreciate Devolo as they have multi band Wi-Fi built in so however far away from your Modem you are you get a strong Internet signal be it wired or wireless.

The Master socket is 13x6.5x4cm, there is one Ethernet socket on the top and this goes to your Modem. The other sockets are slightly larger at 15x7.5x5cm and these have two Ethernet sockets on the top.

Like a lot of things these days setup is run from an App on your mobile phone and this is downloaded from the iOS or Android store.

The App even suggests the best power socket to plug your subsidiary socket into to give you the best speed and Wi-Fi area coverage.

Do not attempt to use a surge strip and a gang socket is not supported however you do not lost any power sockets as you can plug what was in the power outlet into the front of the Devolo sockets, both the master and subsidiary units.

Also in the box is an Installation Booklet in eight languages but as it only gives one instruction per illustrated page it is easy to follow. There is also a sheet that states if you register your product you get an extra years warranty, the box states three years so I assume you get four years if you register. Finally one Ethernet lead is supplied. This is the contents of the ‘Multiroom Kit’ with two subsidiary sockets but they also do a ‘Starter Kit’ with the master and one subsidiary socket for the smaller property.

What you get with Devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 is 50% faster performance than with Wi-Fi 5. It gives you extra power for several simultaneous users with the ability to send and receive at the same time.

Should you need it there is the ability to set up both parental and guest Wi-Fi.

The box states the adapter supports up to 2400 Mbps.

So whether you want more Ethernet sockets to avoid long trailing wires or Wi-Fi in the loft of the basement then this solution from Devolo can help.

The Devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 Multiroom (Whole Home) Kit (UK) is available from Amazon for £349.99.

The Devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 Starter Kit is available for £199.99, also from Amazon.

Product details are available from the Devolo web site.
