The only way you know if your Anti Virus or Total Security product is doing its job is if it fails; and, if you have no problems, then it is probably doing its job. While I have previously told you about what McAfee and Kaspersky have to offer today its BitDefender.

I have been using it for nearly a month and the only time I know it’s there is when I attach a memory stick while it checks its content.

Some people are concerned that certain files are permanently deleted and here they have a secure shredder to do the job.

The thing that most recently seems to be the thing that people worry about is Ransomware and BitDefender say they will stop files being encrypted once they know an attach is in progress.

According to their website they have the highest detection rate of nasty files for the past five years.

Another statement says Bitdefender uses minimal resources, while our optimization tools can enhance your computer`s boot up time and overall performance.

If figures are your thing then check out their link at the end that has all the stats. Certainly the system running BitDefender seems to be running very smoothly and without unusual kinks.

Another worry these days is sites that you mistype by a single letter and often look just like what you are expecting to see this is called Phishing and BitDefender has a rather good Anti-Phishing tool this you can check out for yourself. They even have a safe online banking tool through a dedicated browser.

Like most products there is a trial available of BitDefender.

The only part of the installation of BitDefender Total Security that took a while was the removal of the old A/V program that is not that quick and also involves a restart but BitDefender auto restarts after the restart.

Their A/V package only protects users running Windows while the Total Security protects Windows, MAC and Android machines; it also protects iOS systems like iPhone and iPad as well. Unlike some other products the important upgrades take place automatically in the background.

Should you need it there is online support for the total length of your licence.

BitDefender Total Security is available in five of ten device licences from their link.

According to their site they are protecting 500 Million devices across the world.

At the time of publication Bitdefender Total Security is from Amazon with a five device licence for £19.99.

It can also be bought direct from the developer.
