Island Treasure

When fleeing the plague, a violet storm at sea is not the ideal welcome but a castaway sailor must best cope the way he can.

"Adventure Seekers - Lost to Sea" is a Hidden Object Adventure game from Domini Games.  Available in Collector's Edition format, this title casts you in the role of Raphael, a sailor who has the misfortune to be thrown overboard when his sailing ship is being battered about by a violent storm.  The game begins as you arrive, wet and confused, on an island shore with various serious memory issues as to your location and how you actually got there.

In an effort to discover more about your current circumstances, plus get use to the available tools that are provided for your use, you begin your exploration of your surroundings.  You soon make friends with a parrot, which can prove useful for collecting items which might be stored out-of-your-reach, and then help rescue a young native of the resident Tekua tribe.  The native is being attacked by a fully grown tiger who, incidentally, becomes friends with you later in the game.  Gradually you begin to discover more about the Tekua tribe and their way of life on an island that has its own volcano.

Following sequences involving completing individual tasks made up mini puzzle games and Hidden Object game play, the game develops as the ship, you thought lost for ever, makes a reappearance.  The ship's captain makes contact and helps fill in the gaps in your memory.  It seems that the ship had been trying to escape from the effects of a plague spreading through the world.  Not only were the ship's crew trying to escape from the plague but they were also pirates searching for treasure they believed could be found on the island.

This kind of puts you as pig-in-the-middle situation as you need to decide whether to help save the Tekua tribe or rejoin your pirate friends to rob the island.  Complicating matters is the discover that the island does contain treasure but this is not the usual kind of worldly goods.  The island is the only place where a special plant can be grown.  Handled correctly, this plant has the ability to cure different forms of illness.

As you make up your mind as to which side to support, you will be faced by more mini game puzzles and Hidden Object game play.  You can select to take either an Easy or Hard version of the puzzle presented to you.  In some cases these puzzles will be of a common type although some effort will have been made to suit their current environment in which the puzzle is situated.  When faced with Hidden Object game play, the required list of items could be presented as a single item or groups of object, matched as pairs or only accepted if they could be classified as being able to open.  One of the located items will become your reward for completing the task.

Rather than the usual Collector's Edition offering, this title does not offer the player a number of bonus items.  Instead it sticks with Domini Games' latest trend of requiring the player to find a set number of a Collectible items to gain access to a bonus.  In this case you will need to find 140 items of Pirate Treasure scattered throughout the game to qualify.  I could find no easy method of finding missed Treasure unless you replayed the whole game.

You can download "Adventure Seekers - Lost to Sea" from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99 or from Big Fish Games where it is priced at £11.96.  The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 874MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
