Restoring the Stars

By earning rewards you can help restore vital elements required by the Universe in this next title.

Continuing its Spellarium series, LGT SIA has developed version 13 of this Match 3 and mini game puzzle solving offering.  This title has option to adjust volume levels for background music and sound effects plus set up profiles that allow different players to tackle the game.  When playing the game you have a choice of Relaxed mode or one that is restricted by either time allowed or the number of moves available to complete tasks.

The object of the game is to carry out maintenance work on the Stars that illuminate and heat the Universe.  While the Stars might seem permanent and capable of burning for a long time, they could fade over time and fail to perform.  As a result they will need to be renewed to stop the Universe going dark.  To stop this happening your help will be required as you set about completing Match 3 grid game play and solve mini game puzzles.

The game will lead you through a series of Match 3 grids, of varying shapes and sizes, filled with tiles bearing different embellishments.  Other features, such as wandering bugs, keys, stone blocks, will be added to the grid's content and add difficulties.  Some of these features can be dealt with by the creation and removal of groups of three or more similar tiles by swapping two adjacent tiles.

Included among this tile content will be Ten Gold Coins which will need to be collected.  In order to carry out this collection task you will require the use of tools such as Dynamite Packs and Bombs.  These tools can be created within the grid through the creation of group of four or more tiles.

Mixed in with the individual Match 3 levels of game play is an occasional mini game puzzle.  The puzzles featured in this version of Spellarium introduce one type that I had not encountered before.  This was entitled Drop Tile puzzle and required you to carry out what its name states.

With more than a passing resemblance to the old favourite Tetris game, this puzzles feeds you a series of three different coloured tiles.  By manipulating these intruders either left or right, you can drop these tiles  to the floor area.  In doing so, you try to build up areas of similar colour which then disappear and thus give access to required Coins.

This version of Spellarium also makes use of other types of puzzles.  You could be asked to Spot the Difference between two similar side-by-side images.  Another puzzle type requires you to fill an enclosed area with rotatable irregular shapes to create an image.

You can download Spellarium 13 from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £5.98.  The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 81.4MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
