Avant Air True Wireless Earbuds

This is the first product I have seen from Rock Jaw Audio, a set of in ear earbuds they are wireless and these Bluetooth buds come with a charge box that means the buds internal batteries can be quickly recharged without needing to find power as the box provides extra power for the buds and also provides a safe storage space for them when not in use.

So what do you get, a flip open box 7x3.5x3.5cm which is the charge point for the earbuds, a 30cm long USB ‘C’ to USB cable that is used to recharge the box. The buds are fitted with a pair of gels and there are another five sets in the with the unit, there are also a pair of silicon fit fins for those doing workouts to keep the buds in place.

There is also an annoyingly small 9x4.5cm eight side fold out sheet why not make it 11x11 the size of the box outer then people would not have to ferret around for their glasses to read the clear and logical instructions that cover all you need to know about the buds.

The buds should give you 12 hours of playing time between charges and the charge box is said to have enough charge for more than three full charges. A completely discharged set of buds can take enough charge in 30 minutes to give 10 more hours of playing time.

I found the buds delivered a good range of sounds enough bass for all but those who like their teeth fillings to rattle and plenty of both mid-range and treble.

These buds support Qualcomm’s Apt-X and AAC codecs so good support for both iOS and Android users.

The buds have BT 5.2 wireless communications and are stated to be waterproof to IPX5 standard. Each bud weighs only 5 grams and can be used individually or when used as a pair once linked to give decent stereo sounds.

A simple set of instructions – a pity they were not on a larger piece of paper - give the way to move forward or back a track answer a call get more or less volume about the only thing I failed in was getting them to make the coffee but we cannot have it all.

Initial linking is by selecting from the list of available items in your Bluetooth controls which the buds try to do as soon as removed from their box, next linking is automatic. Should you wish to pair with another device you need to unpair with the original device first.

These buds can also with the three main voice assistants Google, Siri and Bixby.

I found them reasonably comfortable to wear – something that I normally cannot say with earbuds as I have a narrow ear canal – the sound quality was good and it had better than average range indoors, outdoors it was excellent.

At the time of publication the Avant Air earbuds are available from Amazon for £119.95.
